Hm, a lot of that that Lifemaker wizard said intrigued me. However, I don't think what he said meant the world they are in is fake, as Rakan said.
"Other side", in this sense, means death. That means that every side character, and Rakan, that we have seen has actually died. They aren't necessarily an illusion, nor are they human. What I gather then is that the Code of The Lifemaker is a spell that only works on that particular cross-bred species.
In other words, it doesn't work on those of pure blood, demon or human, but only on these half alien people.
...That's what I've deduced anyway. After all, Rakan was taken to a truly fake place already. If illusions were natural to that world, I don't think it would have surprised him as much as it did a handful of chapters ago.
Well no since this also affect object.
Nodoka's clothe disapeared and it affect the armor of the knight.
So
-The world is an "illusion"
-The code of the life maker wasn't used in the war Nagi's participated
-The code of the life maker is directly related to Asuna's power
-Rakan said he wanted to fix things up what his 'generation' did, that means it happened not too long ago
There's some important information that we lack to make a good speculation.
I think that it's possible that the world isn't an illusion but a mass of magic and that it's inhabitant are magical being. It would mean that with Asuna's magic cancel that you actually could wipe out anything magic related
Chaos gave us many hint and I doubt that Negi's group have deciphered everything yet
Anyway we'll probably get a ''illusion do not have soul and thus aren't worthy of living VS Even if they are illusion ,they obey their own will and thus have a soul" dilema with Fate and Negi by the end of the manga.
I still don't think the whole thing is an illusion and that the magical beings theory you thought up is more plausable, it also fits in with my 'alien' theory. The clothing and armour was most likely made from materials of the "magical world", which were obviously made from animals and alloys present on the "planet".
Nodoka and Yue were wearing clothing from the magical world. Besides, if the beings were illusions, we can only assume that the memories gathered on the "planet" arean illusion to, a dream per say. Wouldn't Nodoka and Yue's memories of the place then be erased?
