Well, I Wouldn't say it was too cliche, i mean, there aren't much shounen manga's i know of where a hero dies[If he is dead at all]. But by far,Ken cut out a lot of his battle scenes. It would have been interesting I guess but no matter. Whether he is still alive or not doesen't matter. He played his role in helping Negi Gain power and knowledge about the Magical world but he's a relic now ,part of the legend , an old hero and to die on the stage in my opinion is a suitable ending for him.Now that Negi has arrived, wonder if he will battle fate.
