Makie's a straight up bitch & this Yue sub-arc is so boring. At the very least, they've never really focused on her amnesia that much.

As for Yue, i'm loving her more and more, GO YUE!!!!

I was waiting for you to show of in front of the others!!! I really hope your memory is back, but she could have easily researched what pactio cards are in the school and thus know how to activate it...

I've been eventually expecting something from Yuuna ever since we learned about her father, and I guess it's unavoidable now that she's been to the magic world.  It seems we'll have to wait longer to see exactly what it is though.  Perhaps she eventually gets Mana as a master since Yuuna did so well with dual pistols in the festival event? :p

I was a bit concerned about Yue just knowing what pactio cards do at first from research as well, but there doesn't seem to be many other explanations of why her card suddenly became "active" again after being blank other than Yue recalling something she had lost (which is of course her memory, or parts of it, in this case).  Still, it could be that she's just subconsciously acting on her past memories without becoming consciously aware of them.  Ah well, time will tell.

And yeah, since Yue can now draw on Negi's power through her pactio card, I want to see her show off some.  Maybe now that she has magic training, she'll be able to do something new with her artifact too (since the broom is part of her artifact as well, not just the book).  Can't wait to see! :D

I am now crying, because Rehwyn understands me so much!

We are thinking on the same level, word by word is what i would have used!

One thing to note though, Yuuna being skilled at dual pistols has nothing to do with knowing magic, as they were just tools that used magic, just like a gun uses bullets! Her marksmanship is what we should approve off!

THIS IS AN MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER.

                ----------------------------------------

Hmm so does this mean Yue remembers now? Though that was pretty cool and that Collet had her pactio from the get go. >_>

It was really random that Makie and Yuuna to show up as well..

To be fair to Negima, I have a pre-conditioned bias against amnesia story arcs in generally. If I had to take a guess to way, I think I just don't like the natural disconnect it creates between the cast, severing the ties between. But it's case by case, at worst it can feel like just forced padding but there are some OBVIOUS exceptions that I really liked though. That said, I can't actually remember a single thing about this particularly case, in fact I completely forgotten Negima even did this until I read your post, which I do think says a lot. But yeah, I just generally don't like this type of story.

& haha, well, I generally JoJo's so that part's not to surprising.

Haha, let's hope the fact we think on the same level goes along with the saying "great minds think alike." :p

And yeah, I know the fact that Yuuna did well with the pistols in the festival event has nothing to do with magic.  It likely had much more to do with athleticism and marksmanship, as you asid.  Also, we don't really know how Yuuna's father is related to the inner world, so we can't automatically assume he is a magic-user, which means magic capability might not even "run in the family", so to speak.

I mentioned Mana because she doesn't appear to use much (if any) magic, but instead uses magically-enhanced charms and bullets, though I must admit we don't know very much about Mana's powers at this point other than her ability to see spirits and her gun mastery.  Some of her abilities do seem a bit "supernatural" (such as her ability to jump several stories or flick those coins so quickly and powerfully), but I don't recall her using and spells or special abilities like most of the other characters do.  With that in mind, it doesn't seem unreasonable that someone with a natural flair with guns (or some other conventional weapon), such as Yuuna, could become skilled with using magically-enhanced items without becoming particularly practiced in magic/ki herself, similar to Mana.

Personally, I think it's cool when a character without seemingly-special powers can compete on the same level as a magic/ki user because of skill or cunning.  If someone in Negi's party ended up like, I definitely wouldn't disapprove. :p

EDIT: Man, my posts tend to be really long, don't they? Sorry for that. ^^;;

First off, yea its long, but for anime or manga i REALLY like i tend to read everything that everyone posts :P

"Great minds think alike" i like that sentence, i think we can also use "Two heads are better than one" here :P

Anyhow, first off i agree you dont really need to be very good at magic, they have artifacts that can be used, although they are rare to find, as we know from Negi :P

As for how everything works, dont try to rationalize everything, its how this Author does him manga. Even "Love Hina" that he did was great and had weird moments and people with fighting ablilities that the author never bothers to explain, he just excpects us to accept it as we see it, and Mahou Sensei Negima is the same!

I mean dont forget that even though its highly on Magic, he goes and brings Gunners, Ninja and Chinese Kenpo in it as well (dont forget the future stuff as well) :P

The above are what i like from this Manga-ka, no explanation needed, you can think anything you want and he can introduce anything he wants :P

I really love it!

P.S. about Yuuna's dad, you are right! I checked back and during the last day of the festival when the fighting happens, he is not one of the teachers that are represented as 'Hero' units, he is actually one of the people trying to coordinate everything in the School computer trying to keep the school barrier up, when chachamaru "attacks virtually". :P

I agree that not everything needs a thorough explanation; that's the glory of fantasy.  I only mentioned it with Mana because many other characters have had their heightened physical abilities explained by ki or magic, but we don't really know with her (though we could assume it might have to do with her former pactio).  It's just something I'm kinda curious about, but I suppose characters with some mystery to them are good too. :)

Its final then, we agree at everything now :P

I really like how this manga-ka always introduces weird stuff at random intervals, even if its for a frame or few pages and does not need to explain it!

Usually nothing else happens and i am ok with it, like what he did with "Love Hina" :P

I was kinda wondering about Yue's memory at this point as well.  She used her real name, so it would seem she has remembered at least that much.  There's no way to really know what all she has recalled at this point besides this and how to call her artifact, so there's not much point in speculation.

I had always suspected Collet had the pactio card though, so that wasn't a huge surprise. :p

And yeah, Makie and Yuuna's appearance was kinda random, but I suppose we hadn't actually seen the two of them specifically in a while.  Kinda interesting that Makie can do some magic now, I guess.

Seems next week we'll have more of Yue.  Should be good. :D
