D.Gray-man Chapter 169 Discussion

  • #3
Yeah...was it just a random person they were playing chess with? Why is Bak suddenly in London, not China...Cross *seems* gone for good it looks...

Did everyone just...not hear of what happened with Cross or something?

Maybe they covered it up, like "suddenly he had to leave on a mission" or something, and explained it away. Dunno why they would though...

Kanda...*drools*

Cross come back! I bet (okay hope) that’s not the last we will see of him though. More questions that probably won’t be answered for a long time.

I’m looking forward to the start of an awesome arc.

And yay for Kanda being back in action.

hmmm, I'm almost starting to believe that it was suicide now, or perhaps faked suicide in order for him to escape.  But we better get more information on Cross, even if he really is dead or disappeared.  He can still affect the story without actually being there, I suppose.  I did like that Link seems to be part of the team now too.  Grrr... this is frustrating.  Hoshino-sensei started a really cool story arc, and now it's over uncompleted and a wierd new one is starting.  Maybe this innocence is related to the Heart somehow?

And Mugen's new shape is pretty cool.  More traditional, but at least it has a handguard now.  That always bugged me about he old one, he was gonna get his fingers cut off... but I digress.  New uniforms are cool, more formal.  I think the Vatican is getting more involved in everything, which I suppose could be interesting.

I am betting that we will get "present" missions, with flashbacks about certain events, filling the gaps from "death" to "chess" moments.  (like Allen thinking about that and that). At first we all will be like "wtf why do they react like that?" "why does he act like that", but little by little, with flashbacking we will get the info.

Yeah, it really disappointed me after reading that. The fact that Cross won't appear anymore in the manga (except maybe in flashbacks) completely shatters me.

the story isn't in the past tense so there is a chance of cross coming back. the last they here of anyone, doesn't mean they can't make a re-appearance. just that there is no idea as to what happened or where cross disappeared to.

Actually we do not even know if its past tense or no. After all, the whole "rainy night" thing about Cross is implied to be a flashback actually (from the Allen-narrated cover page with Tim). We do not even know if the "flashback" has ended or no.

Surely the chapters up until Zombie Invasion were not a flashbacks, but there might have been even bigger timeskip after that, with Allen narrating some of events in series of such flashbacks.

Its not that different on how Dan Abnett's "Eisenhorn Trilogy" books work, While Gregor Eisenhorn himself is "a present tense character", "Narrator Gregor Eisenhorn" is a future tense character.  Since the books were told from first person view, its quite difficult to understand when Gregor is thinking as "now" and when as "this is all flashback". If I am not mistaken similar things were usedin G.Cook's "Black Company" series too.

Ooooookay.

._.

First off: cheap way to eliminate Cross.  It would have been better to be left wondering, rather than pull a "and no one saw him ever again".  Perhaps it's just a pet peeve of mine, but I... really dislike it when things like that happen.

Second: wtf, another timeskip?

Third: Link amused me.  Greatly.

Fourth: Yaaaaaaay Kanda!

*coughs* Kanda was awesome, Allen was angsty (oh joy -.-), and the chess game was rather amusing.  I can't say I liked this chapter all that much, mostly because it jumped all over the place, but I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next.

hmmm this chapter was quite confusing. and wth was that "that was the last everyone saw of general Cross". i say that sounds so lame as the manga is not ending....

dfijgsdfjksdfjnh.

Damnit! I finished that chapter so fast, and now I'm just super confused. What happened with Cross? What about the announcement involving Allen? -sigh- T_T

Allen was weird.I guess because  the things Marian told him about the 14 or whatever  he put inside Tim.

Hah good Chapter! Amusing too ^_^

Now we know what was the aftermath of Allen's trial. Lenaly's looking great(sexy)!

Sexual Harrasment?? ~LOL Dopp's cooler than Tapp :P

So Allen didn't know that Cross might had been murdered for 10+ days?...

Also, i wonder why Tim and Kanda's Golem doen't seem to get along well :3

I can see a KomuiXBridget situation happening in the future...

ummm, wth!? Everything just went fast forward. Cross was there one minute, and gone the next. Then all of a sudden 10 days later they're fighting something that looks more like a monster then an akuma.

Playing chess. *face plants* There wasn't even the hearing with Allen. And all we know is that that time before was the last time they heard from Cross. This chapter just confused me.
