He's using it to threaten the guards with no nen and make sure they won't lie. It would have been stupid for Kurapika to threaten them using nen when the guards supposedly don't even know what it is.Yes, I didn't say is stupid. Just that since he is supposedly looking for a nen user the gun will most likely be pretty useless but we are going to see next week. It feels strange to me that a nen user is using a normal gun all of a sudden, it has been a while I've seen guns being used in HxH.

Ponzu? Chimera Ants? Kurapika dodging bullets?Ah right Ponzu, forgot about her. Kurapika did use his chains to even block bullets if I remember correctly. Apart for Ponzu, I think guns never had significant impact.

Fingers crossed there won't be a note next chapter that says "Starting next week, the manga will be on hiatus." Togashi's previous runs since the palace invasion part of the Chimera Ant arc save for the 9-chapter run last time have always been 10 chapters, a volume, except for that one 20-chapter run and the 30-chapter run a few years back. And 360's the last chapter of Volume 35. I hope this is gonna be a 20+ chapter run.
