I have been reading a lot of comments that have been deeming the latest chapter as an "asspull" because of Hisoka's revival and his murdering of two Phantom Troupe members within 3 pages. I admit, the way he was revived was kind of ridiculous to be considered canon, but the rest wasn't an asspull IMO. Shalnark and Kortopi was both killed because they didn't have their Nen abilities, which renders them useless, and Hisoka knew this so it was only logical that he will go immediately after them. I mean, we don't really expect Shalnark, especially Kortopi, to put up a fight against Hisoka. Shame, I liked Shalnark character though.
Togashi had probably planned this deathmatch of Chrollo and Hisoka to end this way from the very beginning (Hisoka escaping with death, and reviving later on) to introduce both of them in the spotlight towards the Dark Continent Arc. (The reason why their deathmatch suddenly appeared out of nowhere, it wasn't a fan service after all)
Surely Togashi decided that he would have to include Hisoka to be once and for all a useful character (plot wise) that had been really foreshadowed for too long since the beginning. This was why I doubted he will die. We will be, most likely, seeing more Hisoka on the chapters. I have a strong feeling Kurapika will be involved with him, since they both have one goal from now on. So not an asspull really, in fact, it created openings for more interesting plots.
I was surprised he didn't kill Machi on the spot though. He only incapacitated her, which very much says that he somehow.... feels something for her. [SHIPPING ENSUES]
Amazing chapter nonetheless. Togashi pulling a "Didn't expect that, it was far from our theories" chapter.
