That high five! Amazing manga. Sannoh match was just perfection - the comeback, Sakuragi playing through his injury, and Rukawa and Sakuragi's clutch plays to win the game. I appreciate that Inoue did not write a fairytale ending where Shohoku wins the tournament. The ending was a bit sudden. I would have loved to see how Sakuragi and Rukawa progressed as players in their second year, but I understand that it would be hard to top that Sannoh match, so this was a fair place to end it. Gonna have to get around to reading Real at some point.

Speechless about the last chapter, incredible written manga, amazing cast, without doubt the best sports ani/manga, hell even better than Vagabond & Real! (imo).

Extending the story is now up to the reader's imagination and I think Inoue ended every the story at a good spot. I'm so tempted to pick up a pair of 2016 1's for the sake of Sakuragi hehe

So that was their limit huh?  Even though they lost the third round, they beat Sannoh which is renown as the king of Japan.  It's almost as if they were national champs at that point were it not for the fatigue they suffered after the match.

I like how it ended with no one regretting or feeling ashamed of the results at the nationals.  The torch is being passed down by the 3rd years and Rukawa/Sakuragi's high school basketball will continue.  Glad Sakuragi wasn't permanently injured, that tensai can't be held down.  Also liked the colorbook, some of those images were extremely detailed.  I liked the author's note at the end about why he chose basketball for his work.

Also enjoyed the 10 Days After chapter, a nice mix of extra closure and hilarity.  Reminded me that Sendoh is a really chill guy.

Overall, I think my feelings about Slam Dunk haven't changed since I completed the anime - that it was an incredible ride fueled by authentic gameplay, hilarious antics, and heart pounding odds that were challenged by Shohoku each and every time.  It's really been a source of inspiration in my own fitness related goals and the nationals matches only helped to further motivate me.

Going to keep this at a solid 9/10, a one of a kind.

Damn, the ending is peak :') My dumb boys are grown up, kinda sad for Akagi and Kogure...

Mitsui is still at Shokoku, he failed his exams ?

10/10 ending, even if there characters we haven't seen playing, like the big tall Sakuragi-like

What a way to end a great story. I was actually surprised when I realised that it was getting close to the ending of the manga and they were still playing against Sannoh. I don't know why he decided to end the story where he did. There was definitely potential with other teams such as Meihou and the op first year, having a possible rematch with Kainan, and even seeing the abilities of Atsushi that were hinted at. The match against Sannoh however, was unpredictable. I thought that he was going to do a f*** you, and make Shohoku lose, but I'm pleased with the end result.

Also, I thought Mitsui was a third year? Did he not graduate or something? Lol.

If I remember correctly, he decided to repeat his third year and keep playing with a team because that's the only way he can get a scholarship since (according to him) he isn't as smart as Akagi to obtain one through academics.

Finally done before watching The First Slam Dunk. Truly the peak of the Spokon genre and a truly bold ending by Inoue.
