Sue already won in my heart (Even if Genshiken is far away from what it used to be and represent I still liked this harem thing... all the othe girls are really interesting in their own complex ways, they are not cliche characters like in most of the mangas)

That date lasted nine chapters and didn't even progress the story. This trip has finished its third volume and will go into the fourth. This trip alone is looking like it will take almost half as many pages as the original Genshiken. The only reason I know all this will end is because there is only one more volume left. There hasn't even been a major change in the volumes before this trip started.

What I find so frustrating is that this harem nonsense doesn't give the characters room to breath. Rika has been in the story for 11 volumes at this point, and she hasn't done anything more than being a supporting character. None of the characters can actually develop because all the development is tied to Madarame who can't make a decision.

I for one like(d) Nidaime, it is basically a different series with some characters/universe/history carrying over.

So yeah, it's totally different from the classic Genshiken and I can certainly see why many fans of it would be dissapointed with Nidaime. I prefer the old Genshiken too, but it doesn't mean I dislike the Madarame harem.

It would be really nice if it would go back to the more classic Genshiken after the harem thing is solved instead of it ending when the issues of these characters have been resolved.

If Madarame chooses someone (seriously, please do), I actually hope he chooses Keiko because it's most realistic and would show Madarame finally "growing up and becoming a normal japanese citizen". And, well, if you take into account the issues Nidaime has adressed, Keiko seems like the logical conclusion from a writing perspective (as well as Hato ending up with Yajima). Buuut... if I was Madarame I would choose Sue. So yeah. Dunno.

The decision comes down to drunken Mada pulling straws, ending at a cliffhanger.

It is crazy to try seeing Genshiken on Genshiken Nidaime at this point. I've totally accepted what Flyffel just said long time ago. Kio-sensei changed the whole mood for nidaime, and consider it a different thing is the way for enjoying it.

As for now: Mada x Hato is the only yaoi couple I've ever shipped, just because I really think it is canon, and because that it is plausible believing in those two together. Sue had a great hole on the last chapters - that scene is to finally create a real rival for Hato, in my belief -, but it's just homophobic to not want Hato as a pair just because he is a guy.

Of course, it all considering that Spotted Flower is a spin-off from another "route".

As for now, I just want to cheer for my otp. :T

i think that "trap" term fits perfectly on Hato xD

well, i have to admit, that the person who acumulates more points to "gain" Madarame's heart is Hato, without doubts... Angela is just body, Sue is just cute, Keiko is ... just an aggro girl

but love could be many things.. except a matter of points, or you love someone... or don't, period.

Keiko - As much as they want her to be like Saki, she isn't. She's the most unlikely choice because of just how she is written. She feels more like an antagonist, stirring up things for her own benefit. She has one of those major bitch vibes, hell, i don't even know how she can stand everyone there.

Angela - Can't speak Japanese, if they wind up together they'd need Ono all the time. Plus, she's really really free about everything. Like she understands one night stands. She has the least development out of everyone here.

Sue - As super weird and strange as she is, she can speak Japanese. She lives nearby. There's buildup for something there. I just feel like they aren't giving her enough focus. She's the one who, in my opinion, would be best for him.

Hato - Is a guy. He's being written like he's the main character now. But to make Madarame like him, feels like too much of a stretch. To do so will break character. With any Yaoi or Yuri series both characters have hints of being gay from the beginning, but here it feels like a cheap curve-ball.

This manga stopped being the fun manga that it was in the beginning to being a generic "WHO'S GONNA END UP WITH WHO!?" harem style manga. I really hate those, since they just milk them out, forever. A year ago, I didn't know who was going to end up with who. But now, it just feels sickening that it will never come to a close. I'm just burnt out. I can't relate to these characters anymore. I miss the way things were. I want it to end, even if the author breaks his own canon. Please. I'm tired of this.

It has been quite a few years since I watched the first two seasons of the Genshiken anime, a show that I really enjoyed back then. Last week, I got around to watch the first Nidaime season too - as I got pretty much hooked on it right away and especially wanted to see more of Hato, I ended up reading the manga too from around the point where the anime ended.

I have to say, though Nidaime is significantly different to the original Genshiken and not something I can relate to as easily with all the fujoshi in the main cast now, I've probably enjoyed Nidaime at least as much as the original Genshiken. Largely the main reason is Hato, who got me seriously questioning my own sexuality, haha. (After all, when he is cross-dressing, I can't help but view him as the most beautiful and cutest member of Genshiken. Seriously, Hato is too damn cute.) I've thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with Hato and Madarame since the beginning, and  I've actually been rooting for them the whole time. The other members of the harem never really caught my attention as much:

*Though she got some nice moments a few chapters ago, Sue has always been sort of a gag-character on the sidelines, at least in my view.

*Angela hasn't exactly had much screentime and there isn't much depth to her character yet.

*Though I do like her somewhat, Keiko hasn't had much screentime either and honestly, I think it would be difficult to have a good relationship with her.

With that all that said though, I have mostly enjoyed the Madarame harem thing even if the only one I've been rooting for is Hato. One might be jealous of Madarame, but seriously, it is not that great. Like Madarame said, one wrong step and there might be a landmine under his feet. One thing relating to the the harem thing though, is that Yoshitake has gradually started to become seriously annoying (I rarely feel as annoyed by any character when compared to her). I'll have to agree with the others regarding wanting to slap her.

Yep, Saki is his true love. Shame there was so much of this Hato bs, it kinda ruined Genshiken for me. Hope sue wins, or Madarame will decide to grow up and move on from this manga club.

Mada is on another level of indecisiveness, but at least he didn't depend on pulling out a stick to make the decision for himself...
