People completely ignoring that one of her hands has cracks in it and the other is burned to hell.
Kay.
I'll go enjoy Erza's character, 'mary sue' and 'plotarmor' by myself. Fight was completely pointless in their current situation anyways.
I've browsed these discussions for years without ever and I mean EVER making an account. After reading this chapter and loving it I came to the discussion to see what other people thought only to see everyone complaining over every little thing. Then I saw your comment and I was just sitting there going THANK GOD SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS! And so I had to make an account just to post this, and it was a hassle. I couldn't use my FB one for some reason and someone kept having my usernames and the password had to be insanely long and it was all around a pain.
With that said I suppose my first post should contribute to the discussion in some way.
I believe Erza is the daughter of the girl whose name I have forgotten. I figure in the later chapters when they fight she'll make a comment about being her parent and Erza will retaliate with the whole 'Makarov' was her only parent thing.
Gray and Natsu's fight is completely pointless, however everyone who is complaining that Natsu should be stronger needs to realize that Gray has a combination of the two forms of magic that stops Natsu's. Ice to Fire, and Demon Slayer magic to Demon. That's why Gray is able to fight with Natsu on par you derps.
Erza stopping them so easily was amazing, first of all we've always known that Erza was far stronger than them -- just because the main character isn't suddenly twenty times stronger than her is no reason to throw a fit. Erza will most likely always be stronger than Natsu for the rest of the series, same with Gray. Though if you people would look closer, you'll notice her hand is severely burned and her other hand is cracking apart. She took some major damage from those two hits, which is phenomenal given that it's ERZA.
I'm sad Makarov died, I really liked him, but I'm not sure he'll stay dead. It's possible Mavis will give up what's left of her life via some magic that no one knows about or something derpy like that to bring him back while sacrificing herself in the process. She's not even supposed to be alive right now by all rights except for her 'curse'. The scene where she remembered naming him and broke down crying suggests that something will happen between them in the future.
Laxus' response to his grandfather's death was.. Lacking. I definitely expected him to rage and murder everyone, but I'm guessing Natsu and Gray will do that for him. Still, they build up his relationship with him throughout the entire series, and this is how he reacts to his death? Seriously? Wasted chance, though I guess someone needed to be there to help Mavis back into the game and everyone else was just out of it. He was the only one strong enough I suppose.
Lastly, for those wondering how Natsu is supposed to be able to kill Zeref when he can't even beat Gray, I reiterate, Gray has the exact magics to block him whereas Zeref specifically gave Natsu magic to kill him. There's more to fights that raw power, besides, we've already seen that Zeref has no real intention of putting up a complete fight against Natsu so his total strength doesn't even really matter. Not to mention Zeref will probably get ganged up on by the entire guild for one major final fight with Natsu delivering the final blow.
The real question here is, what are they going to do about Natsu dying? There's no way they'll kill him off in the manga but they're definitely going to kill Zeref. They'll have a whole chapter dedicated to Natsu's death and at the end of it Mavis is probably gonna do that BS life magic I was talking about earlier. So maybe they'll have to choose between Makarov and Natsu? Though it's obvious who they'd choose.
Well, I guess that's all the comments I had. Hopefully this was a good ice breaker for my first post!
