Honestly, I do not think he is going to kill Jellal just like that. He arised from the dead once, he will again.

Now that Zero is back again, I suspect the other members of the oracion seis will fight against him. Probably his plan from the very start.

I am loving this arc, hope he doesn´t ruin it along the way.

My prediction:

face will be activated.

  mages will lost their power.

  jellal will die

and then........

LUMEN HISTOIRE WILL REVEALED IT'S POWER..restoring fairy tail's/other mages' magical power.

seems legit.

I hope Mashima will draw three chapters in one week sometimes again.

He draws really, really fast and he loves drawing. So he might actually do that! Or... he might sober up and decide it's not worth it. Hope it's the first. :P

If Jellal is dead then Tartarus will kill Erza and Mira......shit.... T-T

I doubt that since mira is already inside that errr..... whatever it is. They might probably do the same to Erza.

I HOPE JELLAL STAYS DEAD. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN MASHIMA!

jellal is a disgusting waste of a character, and is better off rotting in hell.

Cana was smart to notice the behaviour of Elfman, for that she'll prob fight him maybe.

Unfortunately he probably won't stay dead and continue to drag Erza down with him. He is already a ruined character but people seem to like him so his plot armor is strong. It might all be trick to confuse the demons that he is dead or Midnight just intervened and he is not dead.

Pretty interesting chapter.

After going through all 6 pages of discussion (yes, I read every single comment... I need a life XD), there seems to be several discussions that I'm interested in. So I'll start.

1. Is Jellal dead? (I miss the old translation of Gerard better, but meh... what's done is done, so I shouldn't complain)

No. At least not permanently. We all know that Hiro Mashima pretty much always brings back main characters when they die or trolls us with a fake death. And now we're just wondering which.

So first, we have the theory that all of it is currently an illusion planned by Jellal and Oracion Seis to fool Tartarus. This theory is more of a gut-feeling because of Hiro Mashima's inclination of turning "bad guys" into allies in the end and "the power of Nakama trumps all!" We've seen it all already - Lyon and gang making up with Gray and everyone, Gajeel and Juvia joining Fairy Tail after they each obliterated their respective HQs, Jellal and gang becoming fast allies. (Gazelle, not Gajeel damn it! All right, I'll stop complaining, lol please don't kill me) And now, Oracion Seis will most likely become their allies. This would hold true to his style as a manga artist. But that would actually leave a few loopholes or if you want to look at it, open up possibilities, whichever you want to look at it (read theory 2).

And then we have the theory that Jellal is actually killed and then brought back to life using some sort of plot device. This is the "rational" theory if the first theory is more of an emotional "gut-feeling". We need 3 of the ex-counselors dead to lift the seal of FACE. Jellal is one of them. And to make the plot advance and see what FACE brings, we need him dead. But of course, Mashima won't kill him permanently that as it's not his style and the fans will raid his house and kidnap his children besides. So he will most likely die and then be brought back using another plot device though who will bring him back raises another question.

OR... possibility 3: the illusion that Oracion Seis worked on with Jellal is so powerful that it "fools" even the magical system protecting FACE and FACE gets unsealed anyway.

Anyway, moving on...

2. Just who is Silver?

There's the theory that he is future Gray because he bears a similar scar to the one on Gray's face. This could either be used to strengthen this theory or it could be brushed off as a "mere" coincidence. Remember, hair color - lol.

With Eclipse destroyed, however (remember both future Rogue and future Lucy came back when Eclipse was in action), it doesn't seem likely that this is future Gray (nor his future son, twin brother, etc). They don't have a portal to access and transport him here anymore. Also, the previous arc involving Eclipse is done and over. Bringing back time travel just seems pointless, won't make sense, and also makes these plot devices kind of cheap.

And then there's the possibility that he is Gray's father. He does know Natsu after all, but he seems to think of him nostalgically, which brings up the possibility of him being Gray's father if not future Gray. We need a few more chapters so that the clarity can be a bit more solid and official, but I may go back and read a few chapters to see if I can scrump up a few more details to back my theories.

Finally, with all the DBZ analogies used in this thread, what with Piccolo, Trunks, time travel... I officially call dibs on Kyouka being Frieza. Come on, she looks like him (we should have a side-by-side picture of the two of them), she tortures people like him (*cough* Frieza beats Vegeta to death *cough*), and plus I just want to call dibs on a character XD.

Sorry for the long post. Got a bit enthusiastic. Don't kill me XD

Well, since I have a life I didn't read all your post but, I read the number one and, his name is  ジェラール(Jerāru), so "Jellal" makes sense for a translation, while Gerard doesn't make any sense at all. Though I think they should just call him Jeraaru, but whatever.

If Jellal is a ruined character, then who in Fairy Tail(except for Erza) isn't? Sure Zeref is cool and has a great voice actor but his character is completely incoherent, that is, in my opinion.

Every character has flaws and Erza is no exception. I just don't like how Jellal is now a cheap plot device for romance/drama for her. Since FT was not originally planned this far I give him some credit for ending things how they did originally: The guy she looked up to who got corrupted was finally put down for good and even had a moment of clarity realizing he became evil because of twisted ideals. This allowed her to get closure and move on with her life. Now since FT continued he got revived (maybe at the convincing of his editor like with Lisanna?) and how is just there so she can have drama over the "will they or won't they" question, and it was poorly done.

Erza lacks plot relevance compared to say, Lucy and her mysterious relationship with Celestial realm/mother or Natsu and dragons/Zeref. She and Jellal have to rely and create plot relevance for each other. Well the romance execution is indeed bad, but I have always separated it with the characters themselves, as Mashima actually some develop Jellal decently in this arc. Well we can agree to disagree here.

Anyway, here is a comprehensive post about the Illusion theory for those who are interested:

Except this time instead of pulling the wool over the eyes of the Council members, he is pulling the wool over the eyes of Tartaros and the ex Chairman of the Council. I mean let's think about the necessary things that would have to happen here first in order for the chain of events to transpire that just fucking occurred.

Jellal went through this fight without a single use of his magic:

In what fucking world is Jellal going to encounter five opponents of formidable strength (and let's give OS their just dues, they are a formidable fucking force especially when they fight together as a team, which they've already proven they are incredibly good at) and not use any of his magical spells at all? He used Meteor once throughout the entire fight, no sign of Grand Chariot, no sign of Altarius, he didn't even use Meteor except once during the entire ordeal.

Jellal told Meredy to stand back because this is something he must do on his own:

This probably pushed my biggest alarm button of all, Jellal knows exactly what type of magic Meredy uses, he also knows that Oracion Seis is a very tight knit group as evidenced by Cobra pulling the diplomatic shit he did to get them freed and the group fighting an opponent together who they perceive to be a threat to their own freedom. If his intention was to subdue Oracion Seis in order to get them to keep them in line as per his assumed agreement with Doranbolt releasing them then Meredy is the most logical choice with her Sensory Link spell.

Zero has to revive without any of the prayers used to seal him falling:

Mashima would have to be nearly fucking insane to break this establishment without proper reasoning and I don't think even he is willing to go quite this far, unless Brain created a failsafe for Zero to revive in the event that he should be defeated (which he would have to do in prison by the way because he sure as hell didn't have one when Jura defeated him) then how in the hell is Zero even here right now much less laughing like a maniac and causing carnage just like his old self, he didn't even act properly at all, the Zero I remember was confident enough in himself to not even worry about performing sneak attacks, he flat out announced himself to Natsu, Gray, and Lucy before owning them all single handedly and then DARED everyone there to come get him if they felt like it.

You know what can explain all of this though? There is one thing that can explain everything:

http://www.mangastream.to/fairy-tail-chapter-155-page-17.html

http://www.mangastream.to/fairy-tail-chapter-120-page-9.html

Illusion magic could explain all of these events happening, especially if it were being used to play a trick on someone, and we have two people in this fight who have the option to use it, Jellal who knows Mystogan's magic, and Midnight who has his own illusion magic.

Now why would they need to fool anyone? Because of this:

http://readms.com/r/fairy_tail/368/2226/14

Jellal likely knows the Ex Councilman's magic is a magic which search through the continent for mages, and he also probably knows that he is the last remaining link to activating Face, thus by making Tartaros think he is dead he will effectively lure Tartaros into his own trap. Since Midnight's magic is of a visual type, and we have seen his reaction to Jellal's death in this chapter, I concur that Midnight is most likely using an illusion magic to fool the Chairman and Tartaros into thinking Jellal is dead.

Of course knowing this doesn't explain exactly how Midnight's illusion magic could affect the vision of a magic on the scale of this guy's archive, but since it's Mashima we're unlikely to get an explanation for what happened, however this without a doubt the most likely scenario that is unfolding in this chapter. It's the only thing that makes sense, why else would both Jellal and Zero act so out of character compared to everyone else?

Ladies and gentlemen I rest my case, Jellal is playing the motherfucking long con here, and it's going to be an epic as fuck finish

Lucy has plot relevance? Are you kidding me? All she did during the whole series was getting naked for fan service and being saved by Natsu.
