I think that Ren was a bit of an ass at the end though.

Not Ren but Shou. Considering that he just wants Kyoko for his own and I think he doesn't have feelings for her more than this. He just a selfish kid.

Ren's words felt really cold, but it is reasonable because Shou just going aroud and kissing Kyoko and then smiling like he won the battle. I hope Kyoko'll realize at last that Ren loves her...sometimes she is so dense. But I think in spite of being cold to her, Ren  always can make her feel better.

1) He could be in love with her afterall, and is just having trouble accepting it since he's the one that dumped her, and he's known her for practically all of his life.  In that case, Shou's problem would be a matter of pride.

2) Maybe he needs her, maybe not romantically, but in another way. All of his life, he's been pampered by her, and now that she doesn't want anything to do with him (except for revenge), he might be feeling odd because he's had to adjust to a life without Kyoko.  This would mean that Shou is just being selfsh as always...which I remember it saying somewhere in the manga that if he were to be described in one word, then it would be selfish (i might be wrong though)

As for Ren, I can understand why a lot of people are upset about his reaction, but I actually preferred it.  I know that just about everyone was hoping that Ren would comfort her, and finally make a move, but I honestly think that it wouldn't advance the relationship at all.  Though I've seen several interpretations to this already, I think that Ren's remark at the very end was a sign of him losing control to the point of going out of character, and showing his true self.  All of this time, Ren Tsuruga (or Tsuruga Ren...which flows better in my opinion) has been a role that he has been playing for five years, and may I remind you that Ren and Kuon are two different people.  If this couple is going to live happily-ever-after (which I hope they will) then Kyoko has to fall in love with Kuon, not Ren.  Though Kyoko has seen some instances where he goes out of character, most of the time, Ren is very good about staying in control.  So I've been worried that Kyoko would be falling for his fascade and not the person behind the mask which is why his reaction made me feel somewhat relieved.

I couldn't agree more with number 1 except to add that I don't think Shou even realizes how he feels for her. He has an image too that he wants to uphold. And Kyoko doesn't fit into that image he portrays. He thinks she's plain and he said he will have the best as his gf. If I remember correctly....the things he really enjoyed doing, he did with Kyoko.....and no one else even knows those things. So the only person he was truly happy around was Kyoko. I'm just rambling now so I'll stop here.

As for number 2......yes Shou is very selfish, but I really think he does love Kyoko and just doesn't realize it yet himself.

I can't add anything to your view of Ren this since I think that is very accurate.

OK I will add something. Very nice post XD

Earlier in the manga, Kyoko was just a wannabe actress in a pink jumpsuit...eventually she got recognized as a legitimate talent and starred in a big role as Mio.  Then she continued to get a few extra roles through her notoriety of being a dark, sadistic character and became like a b-list celeb.  Shou didn't bother making any moves on her since she still hadn't proved herself as famous actress yet.  Now that Kyoko actually has some self-worth, Shou just wants to dominate a valuable Kyoko (I mean she's got Ren interested in her...she's no longer the girl that'll bend over backwards for anyone).  He's always jealous of Kyoko's successful career so far, the best way to dominate Kyoko and break her career would be through a sexual relationship with her... just to toy with her emotions and break her down.

yeah, I see what you're saying, but I think there's something a bit more complex going on here.  Shou and Kyoko are childhood friends, so they're connection to each other is almost brother/sister-like except it's more twisted because Kyoko was his servant from then until he decides to dump her.  Not saying that your theory isn't legitamate (sp?), but I think their relationship is more complex.

I have to disagree about Shou feeling lustful feelings for Kyoko...but I definitely think that he's a wanna be playboy.  In fact, he's still a boy in a lot of ways.

Do you think Shou has romantic feelings for Kyoko though? (subconscious even...since hes not admitting anything right now).  I'm saying that if Shou has any interest in Kyoko its only lustful, there's no love but if you think there's no feelings whatsoever than at least we agree he has no romantic interest.

Yes, he is a boy....which is partially why I like Ren's character more (I won't get into the details).  He just thinks he can get whoever he wants whenever he wants...but he fails with Kyoko, wannabe playboy idd.

Personally, I don't think Sho actually loves her and is just in denial.  He is just a possessive egotistical bastard and he's fully aware of it.  He doesn't care about Kyoko at all, but because of his pride and ego he wants to torment her and make her only see him and be his servant forever.

I love Ren's reaction and comments at the end of the chapter, and completely agree with him.  I think in the next chapter he'll somehow comfort Kyoko and make her stronger, or at least hoping this is the case.
