I really don't see why people have started to like him. He hasn't shown the least bit of remorse up till now about his horrible doings in the past(regardless of who he mistreated). He hasn't regret what he has done. He may regret that because of his doings he lost Kyoko(although we haven't seen even that kind of "regret") but that's waaaay different from repenting for his actions. On the contrary,he falls in love and like nothing's wrong, thinks he has every right to claim Kyoko. He hasn't changed to a better person.
Sure, it's amusing to watch him, his interactions with Kyoko etc, but that's all there is to him. If that's enough reason for people to like him...well, whatever rocks your boat I guess.
