Vampire Knight Chapter 93 Discussion

I'm not too sure why people were expecting that suddenly the writing was going to be amazing and we would get an actual plot after chapters and chapters of fail. This is probably why I'm not disappointed, because I just assumed Hino was going to take one last chance to troll us :D

The only thing I don't get is why people are calling this a 'threesome' ending. To me OT3 would be Zero, Yuuki and Kaname being happy together. In my opinion, even though both ships are canon since Yuuki loved both guys, there is only one endgame ship: Zero/Yuuki.

Basically: Girl gets pregnant by her fiancé (nothing wrong with them sleeping together, they are engaged and in love), due to circumstances they break up and she moves on to the other guy who she is also in love with. She then stays committed to the one guy for the remainder of her life, while raising her children (one of whom is from a former relationship, something not uncommon these days) and then when the love of her life dies she also decides to die and in the act of death gives the fiance who she didn't up with another chance of life.

Even though Yuuki's last act was out of love for Kaname, this isn't a Yume end, to me a Yume end or two pairing ending would of been if Yuuki lived with Zero and then when Zero died she woke up Kaname and then lived with him, that would of been her getting both guys. The spoilers seem to indicate that while she loved both Kaname bowed out and then after living her life with Zero he ended up being the one Yuuki stayed by, when he died she died also, she didn't move on to Kaname next. Yes, it seems that since Hino loves to troll there are moments for each ship in the final chapter, but that doesn't mean that Yuuki didn't make up her mind about who she was going to be with. I say just enjoy the moments your ship gets and the scenes with characters you like because of course the final chapter's plot isn't amazing, there was no way it was going to be after chapters of bad writing. I love Hino's art and I hope it doesn't sound like I'm bashing her but I've thought her plot was lacking for 80% of this manga.

And don't get me started about those children. Did they really live thinking of Kaname as their "other" father? It feels so wrong not just for Zero but also for them. I really can't imagine what their life was like thinking that their mother lived with their father because her number 1 told her to while dying. And it as hell looks like they know. They could learn about it in one conversation. "And that was Kaname, your other father." "But mommy why did you get together with daddy, then?" "Well... you see..." They HAD TO learn about it. O_o WHAT THE HELL HINO? o_O I'm really rendered speechless. Seriously, my habit of THINKING abut what I read is driving me crazy at this point. I have to stop. I... I... I guess I'll go drink something, some alcohol to make me forget. Some VERY hard alcohol.

Not going to address the shippy stuff because even if you aren't into Yume anymore I think you read the manga with a Yume bias :P

Anyway:  the kids, while I think it was sad for them that Yuuki died I don't think it would of scarred them for life, it was not a horrifying death. Unlike when Yuuki's mother died, Yuuki appeared to pass away in a peaceful way, we see no blood, Kaname didn't look distressed when he woke up, nor did the kids when they spoke to him.

One of the major themes of the manga is that being is pureblood is a curse because their lives are endless. Kaname wanted to die because he got sick of living because his life had been so long (and for a large part, lonely). A thousand nights has been referenced in the manga before; it refers to eternal pureblood life and Yuuki dies after a thousand years, I doubt this is a coincidence. Using her life to give Kaname a second chance at a normal, human life wasn't just a gift to Kaname it was also the way for Yuuki end her life in a meaningful way since she could not die of a natural cause, just like Isaya wanted to give his life in a meaningful way by turning Yuuki into a human when Kaname asked.

Of course, there are problems: is Yuuki's daughter Kaname's child meaning that she would be a pureblood + if Kaname ever gets his memories back will he revert back to being a pureblood.

The first pages where Kaname throughs his heart in the fire was so heartbreaking. I'm getting a headache because of all the crying I did since yesterday.

I agree that there were a lot of plot holes. The end was rushed, we got no answers, more plot holes were created and not surprising at all, the LT never ended. There are so many flaws, yet the ending is growing on me.

I kinda understand Yuuki's decisions. Even though Zero was her second choice, she still gave him a happy life and she gave Kaname another chance to find happiness. Words can't explain how happy I am for Kaname. *Melts remembering the last page*

Even the "Titanic" ending for YuMe is growing on me.

I'm neither disappointed  nor satisfied. I hope Hino-sensei improves her storytelling for her new project. Her gorgeous art is perfect already. ^-^

Eh, I'm not THAT disappointed honestly. I kinda expected Kaname to die or sacrifice himself *because reasons* at the end, but had no idea what would author do to Yuki - kill them both, let them live by themselves in solitude? Apparently no, I guess impregnating her to bear one child, immidiately afterwards making her stay with Zero and have another child with him (so both of her lovers can get equal treatment, I guess??) and THEN letting her die to bring back Kaname was a better idea, huh.

I mean, Zero is way hotter better anyway, and Yuki spend 1000 years with him and their little family, which is quite a lot, even after his death she wasn't just happily reunited with Kaname, just brought him back to life sacrificing herself... so it's not THAT terrible. It's more that all this shouldn't be crammed into like 5 pages, because it's hard to follow and make sense of it. Oh welp, hopefully the spin-off series improves this kind of ending.

Other than that I honestly had a lot of fun reading this series - sure, this is just manga version of Twilight with some bizzare incesteous undertones and a lot of cheesy dialogue - but the artstyle was pretty, action scenes easy to follow, and some of the storylines had me engaged. Not my favourite shoujo series, but I'm not gonna hate on it or anything. 7/10

so i've noticed the reactions here, and i'm kinda confused... almost the same thing happened in the end of the divergent series, and everyone was fiiiine; it was a sacrifice that made a great ending... but when it happens in this its a horror? don't get me wrong this ending pretty much ruined the series for me but still! i can't ignore the hypocrisy here...  also i just wish they choose one of the people to live with, maybe the other pureblood who was gonna change Yuki could change Kaname and then everyone could live happily ever after Yuki with Zero watching over Kaname living a human life without any memories and everyone can live happily ever after... also the salt on this page is enough to compete with the Dead Sea, dear god.

GUYS IM GOING TO CLEAR UP THE CHILDREN THING.

Okay I have read different translations of the chapter, and this is what I'm going to clear up.

The two children who is light haired and dark haired are BOTH Zero and Yuki's children the dark haired is not Kaname's child.

Since at the second to last page of the chapter the dark haired said this to Kaname "This message is from my mother to my OTHER father" other translations "My mother passed this message to our OTHER father" So meaning that the dark haired child is also Zero's child as well. But I still want to see the coloured version of the two children to see if it is Zeros and Yukis two children. But I'm pretty sure that it is Zero's child to what she said to Kaname.

True the daugther did say " our"

I believe your comment , I believe Yuuki had a 2children with Zero.

Yuuki did die and sadly Zero ( together forever)

I old careless for Kaname.

I waited so long for this chapter and this is what i get! I'm pissed. From the very beginning i was a zeki fan, so i automatically didn't like kaname. Hino senpai should have extended into more chapters. I feel like she kinda rushed it and tried to fit everything in the last chapter. But overall i really enjoyed Vampire Knight.
