Well hate to say it but ivar was right to keep the sword. Guess we’re going to see how the horse colonies in Canada failed now

I hoped for Thorfinn to show his power to his ppl at least once, so idiots like Ivar wouldn't pull crap like this out of nowhere. I understand Thorfinn's way of thinking, but by letting the ppl who follow you, constantly believe you're just a weakling, you'll lose control of what you're trying to build. Ivar acted because he thinks Thorfinn is weak, his actions here weren't wrong, however they're gonna make everything worse. And Thorfinn is definitely to blame for not being able to fully control his ppl.

Damn, fuck Ivar. He and his people acting out solely out of self interest.

Anyways, quite an abrupt turn of events. What will Thorfinn do now?

Overall not a bad chapter at all to say the least, but I can understand people getting upset by this.

Why would it be fuck ivar? He saved thorfinn lol

He didn't because Thorfinn could defend himself easily. Also, the tribe did not hear what the old man said, and they weren't close enough to see what was happening. They will definitely misinterpret what happened because they don't know the details, only the outcome. The safest option was for Thorfinn to dodge or hold the old man's hand.

Nah, I’m with ivar on this one. The guy was in front of everyone lifting an axe.

I am not saying he was 100% wrong, but we are talking here about tribal people.

Tribes are known to stand with their people even if they were the ones who instigated hostility.

Thorfinn dealt with people before bare hands ... why wouldn't he be able to deal with some old man?

For sure they’ll side with their people but I’m not gonna slate ivar, for defending thorfinn. Thorfinn hasn’t fought in years.

It was an interesting chapter. I think Ivar was wrong to pick up a sword in that situation, but some of the people in Thorphinn expedition just doesn't know that he is a complete badass. It was a pretty dangerous situation and by "saving" Thorphinn he fucked it up.

The thing is, his action might be "objectively right", it might objectively be "self-defense", but it's important to consider motivation. It was made abundantly clear from his previous actions, his mentality, and his very expression while cutting the hand, that Ivar did not do this out of a desire to protect Thorfinn. He was waiting for an excuse, the slightest mistake to justify his violence. He did not do this for self-defense. He was just too insecure to be peaceful with the Lnu. But most of all, he was bloodthirsty.

It doesn't help that we as the audience know that if he had just let everything go down without interference, things would've gone smoothly and there could have been an opportunity for discussion between Thorfinn and the shaman.

Man Idc about that motivation stuff, he did the right thing. Fuck them kids

And now it begins. There will be no coming out of this situation no matter what they do. Blood has been spilt and it will only escalate from here.

Ivar doesnt know that Thorfinn can fight and he doesnt know his past. Thorfinn is just a pacifist person for Ivar.

Makes sense .. maybe I don’t remember to be honest. Don’t they know he became the leader of Jormsvikings?

Im not sure, but imo they dont know.

I mean Halfdan is financing this whole thing and he wouldn’t accept weak people and losers. I am sure they know he can fight. He already had scars in his body that indicates he fought a lot.
