Well it's rather too short, but a great philosophical chapter really ...

Vinland saga takes place in the north, but its not a fantasy manga. How did you conclude he was considering it as a fantasy manga from that statement?

Short chapter, a fanservice for bloodthirsties but a time to contemplate wars and deaths.

I've finally caught up with the manga and now I have to wait monthly until the Anime comes out. I hope the Anime adaptation will be good.

This chapter was pretty dark and sad.

did Yukimura-senpoi just say it frankly that norse mythology is just a bull created by Viking? isn't this kind of thing rather.... sensitive?

Yeah, the author was unnecessarily rude by doing that, especially since the manga is about Vikings, but, hopefully thinking, it's not necessarily true that in the universe of this manga there's no Valhalla or anything else after death. The monologue that we had of the character in this chapter was from when he was still alive and almost dead, and the monologue ended when he actually died saying that he was feeling sleepy. It could be argued that he is only going wake up in Valhalla after sleeping.

Life after death, is nothing but a cold harsh slam-to-reality when it comes to believers, it may just be presenting not only in Nordic ways, but may just skew Pantheism in general.
