Vinland Saga Chapter 154 Discussion

  • #19
Quite the deep chapter, especially when you think about the fact that these are all technically warriors under king Canute (albeit seperated by Thorkell's army and that of that cube-head Floki) fighting each other in a time of peace just because they want to, making it all the more futile...

What a bummer As he dies he realizes that there are no Valkyries and no Valhalla Dead is dead

This chapter was deep on SO many levels.

Some people live their lives wholeheartedly believing that when they die, some spiritual being is going to come and take their soul away to a place of eternal peace and prosperity.  There are hymns, scriptures, and prayers about it.

Yukimura-sensei did an excellent job conveying that heart-crushing moment when they realize that all was for naught and there ain't a damn thing that can be done about it.  They just have to surrender to the cold and the darkness.

That's how it is, the harsh reality of war. Liked this chapter a lot.

Short but really impactful and meaningful. War is brutal, there is no one waiting for you on the other side, only darkness.

Indeed. I think this will be important in the next chapter when Thorfinn will be fighting with OP shounen white hair cliche boy who lives to fight. I don't think this chapter was meant t be filler.

Well it's rather too short, but a great philosophical chapter really ...

Vinland saga takes place in the north, but its not a fantasy manga. How did you conclude he was considering it as a fantasy manga from that statement?

LMAO I quoted the wrong guy, I was going to quote the guy who wrote before him
