Their journey begins in the shadow of a deadly trial—the Carnage Exam—where they face off against monstrous beasts and mercenaries to prove their worth. Overcoming their challenges with cunning and strength, they find themselves accepted into the prestigious Orionis Guard, a special unit tasked with missions that transcend ordinary warfare. But as they are sent to distant lands, from the grim city of Lugdunum in Gaul to the treacherous waters of the Still Ocean, they begin to uncover secrets far greater than any mission.

At first, the challenges seem typical of military life—encounters with hostile soldiers, corrupt noblemen, and beasts that test the limits of their power. But with each step, they’re drawn deeper into a mystery that ties directly to the gods themselves. Yacha, the unofficial leader of the group, is plagued by nightmares of a headless woman and begins to suspect that their mission is only the surface of something much darker. Strange figures appear in their path, and whispers of the gods\' meddling grow louder.

Through battles with powerful enemies, like the monstrous ice-beast they barely survive and the sinister forces lurking in every corner of their journey, the four soldiers are forced to question everything they’ve been taught.
