However, there are numerous aspects of the story that fall short. The writing quality is poor, and many parts are dull, which is disappointing. The exam arc stands out as the only remotely engaging part due to its uniqueness and the social commentary it offers, making it more akin to true horror. Unfortunately, the arc's potential is wasted, and the ending fails to satisfy.
Additionally, I am annoyed by the excessive use of "barrage" – a narrative device where characters' thoughts and reactions are shared en masse. When done well, it can add complexity, but here it feels forced and serves no purpose other than to reinforce the protagonist's popularity and antagonist's dislike. The barrage in this story is particularly grating, as it's unclear who these 'watchers' are and why they matter. They never interact with the characters, making their presence redundant.
Despite enjoying the MC-ML relationship initially, the constant distractions make it lose its appeal. As someone who enjoys horror, the repetitive nature of the story becomes a letdown. In conclusion, the book doesn't offer enough value to justify the read.
Each character is so well-developed that it's hard to put into words. I promise to return after finishing the novel for a more comprehensive review.
Just to clarify, starting from Chapter 69, I'll read it directly in its original language since I'm fluent but struggle with readability. My last raw read was 2HA, my all-time favorite, which speaks volumes about how much I'm enjoying this book. The translation, as expected from Chrysanthemum Garden, is flawless. And let's not forget, the cover is absolutely stunning! Goodbye for now, sending virtual kisses *air kisses*.
"Spoiler alert:
"I will always cherish the memories of Index 15 and Index 99. Initially, I had doubts about Zhuge An, but he turned out to be a genuinely admirable individual."
What's amusing is how many of the trainees, especially those at the S-level, remain oblivious to their romantic connection until they're invited to the wedding – it's a hilarious plot twist. As a slow-burn romance, the story gradually unfolds, with the first kiss happening around the 100th chapter. The惩罚 (punishment arc) brings a mixture of happiness and gratitude for the curse, as it sets the stage for numerous joyful moments.
The ending is nothing short of perfect – each male lead in the parallel universe searches for their respective MC, ensuring their happiness. Overall, this book is a delightful blend of romance, drama, and unexpected laughter.
The first 150 chapters are exceptional, filled with intrigue, excitement, and a touch of predictability – I enjoyed following the progression, despite knowing certain outcomes. However, as the story moves towards what I initially believed to be the climax, it shifts its focus more keenly onto the central couple's love story.
In summary, the plot is commendable, the characters are decent, and the main couple ranks among my favorites – they truly shine. This novel offers a delightful blend of interest, romance, and a solid plot, making it a worthwhile recommendation for readers. While it may not be groundbreaking literature, it certainly provides an entertaining read.
If you're as impatient as I am, my advice would be to hold off reading this until it's been fully translated. If I were to continue, I intend to refrain from giving a rating or adding it to my completed novels list until I've experienced the true, translated story.
The male lead (ML) is a complex character – a mix of allure and annoyance, leaving readers torn between wanting to strangle and swoon over him. Their relationship is electric, with their chemistry igniting every scene, making it a true enemies-to-lovers story.
The plot is well-crafted and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Each chapter leaves you eager to discover the MC's next move and what surprises await. However, I do find the connection to the thriller trainee program a bit unclear, as it seems underdeveloped and barely mentioned beyond the initial chapters. Despite this, the novel stands tall as an engaging read.
