It’s been eight years since she possessed Adeline, the ‘villainess’ in a book called 〈 Beyond Orange 〉.

In order to end this tiresome possession, she tried to create the ending of being killed by the male protagonist— exactly as the book says.

However, at the masquerade ball where the male and female protagonists should fall in love, the male protagonist asked Adeline for a dance?

The male protagonist, whom she should never be involved with, is interested in Adeline, and even offered her a contract marriage…

***

Although she even lied to the male protagonist, who doesn’t seem to intend to act the way he did in the original work, saying that he would die if he married her,

“Adeline.”

But the moment Adeline turned around, Kael’s low, abating voice caught her.

“If there is not the slightest lie in what you said.”

“…”

“I will make you my wife, by all means.”

Something was going astonishingly wrong.

"This is fantastic! Initially, I expected a storyline where the female antagonist bonds with the male lead, but my assumption was completely off! The female lead in this story is incredibly determined to go back to her own world, and she'll stop at nothing to make it happen. She holds steadfastly to the belief that the original female lead (FL) and male lead (ML) should remain as a couple. The male lead finds the female lead intriguing because she's the only one who doesn't have any ulterior motives towards him. There's a fascinating backstory surrounding him, which I'm eagerly anticipating to uncover."

So far, I am thoroughly enjoying the story. Our main character, Adeline Tien, is a minor antagonist who tragically meets her demise at the hands of Duke Kael Inver due to her attempt to harm Vanessa Felix. Adeline comes from a background of tragedy, having lost her parents young and relying on her three supportive brothers. Her character is driven by a desire to ensure the success of Vanessa and Kael's relationship, which runs deeper than just plot manipulation.

Enoch, the family head, is happily married to Therese and has a good rapport with Adeline. Leo is the commander of the Fidel Knights, and Simeon, the upcoming High Priest, adds another layer to the dynamics. The story unfolds with Adeline's amusing and determined efforts to bring Kael and Vanessa together, often resorting to tactics that inadvertently attract his interest.

One instance involves Adeline, disguised as a man, interacting with mercenaries and unknowingly crossing paths with Kael during a recruitment process. Using societal expectations, she inadvertently insults him, but this unexpected encounter turns him on. Despite her initial reluctance, their interactions create a fascination for Kael.

The introduction of Countess Delphine and her daughter Sophia adds more complexity, especially when the Crown Prince, who has an interest in Adeline, shows up unexpectedly. Adeline's nerves are frayed when Kael and the Crown Prince attend the same event, leading to an uncomfortable encounter where she tries to feign a fiancé to deter him.

Throughout the story, Adeline's motivations become clearer as she desperately seeks a way to return to her own world. She believes that dying at Kael's hands might be the key. Her obsession with bringing Kael and Vanessa together stems from her hope that their connection could be the catalyst for her return.

As the narrative progresses, Adeline's determination to save her brother and thwart the Crown Prince's plans leads her to agree to marry Kael. However, she remains focused on finding a way out of the engagement, aware of the potential for love to complicate matters.

In summary, Adeline's push to unite Kael and Vanessa is intertwined with her personal quest, involving her desire for a return home and her protective instincts towards her siblings. The story is filled with humorous and unexpected encounters that challenge her plans and reveal her complex motivations.

The storytelling is decent, but not groundbreaking; it unfolds predictably. The author does excel in fleshing out the characters' emotions and thoughts, which adds depth. However, I feel the conclusion was somewhat hurried, especially when considering the slower pace at some parts – personally, I would have preferred a more concise wrap-up. Overall, it's an entertaining read with engaging characters committed to their goals.
