At first I had high hopes because the MC was different from the norm, but it didn't take long for the series to fall into bad cliches. A lot of the conflicts feel forced and poorly thought out.

At one point, the MC needs saving, but the ML is unable to for a few days. The MLs people know the MC is in danger, but what do they do? Some magic tracking that conveniently is only ready right after the ML is back. Let's not bother telling the MCs brother who has a literal army he could have used to look for her.

I came over to this work after first starting to read the Kings Alpha. I enjoyed reading the original book and then continuing on with the book I started, but I had to skip to the 81st chapter in The King's Alpha because it was showing all the previous chapters that I already read as locked.
