I absolutely adore this book; it's hands down my favorite from the author. Although it shares a common theme of rebirth and revenge with her other works, the narrative approach stands out as unique due to the protagonist's male disguise, allowing them to navigate gender norms differently than previous characters. He Yan is a character I can't help but cheer for; she seeks justice and is compassionate, loyal, and self-sacrificing. Her humor and unapologetic nature make her all the more appealing. Despite not having innate talent, she has worked tirelessly to rise to her former stature in her past life and rebuild from scratch in her current one.

What I particularly enjoy is the book's circular storyline, with He Yan forming a new family, uncovering connections with the main character (ML), and ultimately reclaiming everything she deserves, and even more. The romantic element is also handled beautifully, incorporating one of my favorite tropes and leaving me feeling thoroughly satisfied by the end.

I have long been a fan of the novelist, and this particular book stands out from their other creations. The narrative unfolds beautifully and tragically, particularly in its initial chapters. It captured my attention so much that I read through it using minimal translation, allowing the emotions to resonate. The story evoked both laughter and tears throughout, making it a highly compelling read. I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a chance.

4.4. He Yan is indeed exceptional, quite unique in historical novels. Overall, I enjoyed the story, but I must admit that the romantic focus towards the climax left me slightly unsatisfied. It was well-balanced, but there was still room for improvement.

Additionally, I deducted a few points due to the reliance on battle tactics commonly found in "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" or Records of the Three Kingdoms. Although I'm unsure which parts are fictionalized, there's significant overlap in the strategies employed. Although I adore ROTK, it was disconcerting to see these tactics repeated and praised. Since the events are based on, if not entirely accurate, real history, using them in the novel can be seen as a nod to Zhuge Liang. Given its popularity and familiarity among Chinese readers, it's not a major issue, though I would have appreciated more original strategies instead of direct adaptations.

One example of such borrowed tactics includes sending decoy figures to deceive the enemy for arrows, utilizing small boats loaded with grease to ignite the enemy's chained ships during a predicted wind change, and a variation of the empty city tactic where He Yan's mentor employs his Qin arrays to intimidate the enemy while the city is mostly deserted.

I find the novel deeply inspiring and moving, touching my heartstrings repeatedly. "Rebirth of a Star General" may have a leisurely pace, but every sentence is worth savoring. It's a fantastic tale, particularly when it comes to its memorable characters. The story strikes a perfect balance between romance, comedy, and depth, ensuring a satisfying conclusion that leaves a bittersweet aftertaste, evoking nostalgia and realism by the end.

The narrative unfolds through a relatable protagonist's journey, where she encounters diverse individuals who broaden her perspective and support her dreams, while grappling with her personal conflicts. The setting, rich in warfare and traditional norms, provides insight into the characters' growth through their actions and interactions. Although some readers might perceive minor subplots as unnecessary or拖沓, these details enhance the story and give depth to both major and supporting characters, contributing to a natural progression for all.

Characters in the novel are dynamic and evolve throughout the story. The protagonist stands out as a beacon of hope in a patriarchal society, defying discrimination and adversity to pursue her aspirations. The male lead, initially stoic, represents an unspoken longing for warmth, which he finds in the protagonist. What makes the storytelling engaging is that it doesn't solely revolve around the protagonist; other characters also have their moments to shine, revealing their own struggles, growth, and unique perspectives.

Chu, in particular, stands out as a complex character, often portrayed as a melancholic figure. He holds a special place in my heart as a favorite "gray character," and I can't help but imagine a different outcome for him, finding the warmth he sought in his next life.

In summary, this novel is a masterpiece, emotionally captivating and thought-provoking. The author skillfully intertwines the setting, plot, and characters to create a cohesive and impactful narrative.

The narrative surpassed my expectations from the author's previous work, evoking deep emotions at times, particularly with Yan He's poignant storyline. The other characters' arcs were also impactful, but thankfully, the central couple experienced a heartwarming conclusion. Overall, it was a delightful read.

"It's fantastic! Highly recommended <3 Although there were numerous events, I've been holding back my ramblings due to laziness. Unexpectedly, I fell in love with the story – initially, it was decent but only average for my taste, until it truly shone around the midpoint, turning exceptional.

I adore the protagonist. Initially, she was a simple girl who achieved her success through sheer determination and overcoming challenges from her previous life. Her lack of cunning intelligence and occasional naivety are understandable, given her humble beginnings. She's straightforward in her plans and reactions, though incredibly skilled in warfare. To deceive the male lead for recognition, she showcased skills beyond swordsmanship, mindful of their shared history.

Initially, I didn't fully appreciate her, perhaps because the male lead seemed too sharp. But towards the end, I couldn't help but admire her – I regret not liking her sooner! The main character is a complex mix of contradictions, which confuses the male lead but makes her all the more intriguing.

Her low self-esteem is both a strength and a vulnerability, making her relatable. Despite her mediocre skills, she has improved significantly through hard work. Her moral compass is commendable. The way she dissembles is impressive, leading the male lead to doubt her every move, viewing her as a deceiver. Yet, he comes to realize her sincerity, leaving readers heartbroken.

The confession scene was simply breathtaking, a true masterpiece!

In summary, this is a gem of a story – do give it a read! I could go on about the supporting characters, but they're all lovable, and typing more would just exhaust me. But rest assured, I adore them too."

Honestly, I don't particularly enjoy the main character's (MC) demeanor. She comes across as arrogant, given her supposed past as a general. Her excessive self-confidence and belief in her abilities are frustrating, especially since the author consistently has her win. Moreover, she displays a lack of wisdom, failing to grasp how her background attracts unnecessary attention. It's implausible for someone new to possess such extensive knowledge from the start. Instead of playing it safe, she recklessly challenges others, inadvertently drawing unwanted attention to herself. Frankly, I'm not a fan at the moment, but I'll keep reading to see if my opinion changes.

I'm currently in the midst of this novel, and it's undoubtedly longer compared to the author's previous works. The 150 chapters I've read feel akin to approximately 200 chapters of her typical length. I understand that such an extended narrative is necessary to accommodate the intricate plot.

The reincarnation theme remains consistent, but this time, the female lead (FL) has a unique background. She's not your typical noble lady protagonist; instead, she's a general—a departure from the norm. Think of her as a more intense Mulan, raised from birth to be a man, not just pretending for a military disguise like in the original story.

As for the revenge plot, it hasn't advanced significantly so far – I'd say it's only about 30% complete. I'll provide a more comprehensive review once I finish the entire novel.

I genuinely tried my best to empathize with the main character, but unfortunately, I couldn't connect with her. I read up until chapter 171, but her unwaveringly virtuous "pure white lotus heart" became unbearable to me. Despite her tumultuous past, she continues to maintain an innocent disposition, and even towards suspicious individuals, she extends kindness.

Though I understand that no one is perfect, the MC's saint-like nature felt exaggerated by the end of the fourth volume. At that point, I decided to formally label her as a "living saint." Perhaps it's because I have a more cynical outlook on people, but I found it difficult to see the positive aspects in her actions. She seemed to inadvertently hurt her allies while trying to help her enemies.

"Absolutely fantastic! This is one of the most exceptional novels I've come across. However, the romantic development is rather gradual, so readers should be prepared for a slower pace. I adore how Xiao jue selflessly cares for He Yan, creating those touching moments. If you're curious to experience more, I highly recommend diving into this book - it's definitely worth the read."

What an incredible author! I'm truly a devoted fan of her entire body of work, including this latest piece. Each novel showcases her unique writing style, which remains invigorating and never feels dull.

The novel is truly exceptional, living up to the author's reputation. Although it might start off slowly for some readers, I found it akin to the peaceful prelude before an intense climax. Once the fates begin to intertwine, the momentum is unstoppable, leaving me eager to devour the next chapter without pause.

I was deeply moved by the emotional depth portrayed in the story - a significant improvement from the author's previous work. This novel, much like others have mentioned, possesses a human touch, setting it apart from "Malicious Empress," which I admired for its ruthless portrayal. In contrast, "Star General" embodies noble ideals that inspire one to fight for justice.

The main characters are simply adorable, their mutual affection and support endearing. Our protagonist, like the sun, exudes optimism and determination, driven by her quest for revenge yet maintaining a balanced perspective. She displays strength of character without being consumed by her desires.

The male lead, reminiscent of the enigmatic moon, initially appears cold and domineering, but his true nature reveals itself as lazy and somewhat childlike when it comes to his interactions with our protagonist. Together, they form a captivating dynamic.

Overall, this novel is a genuine gem, capturing the heart with its compelling storytelling and well-developed characters. ❤️
