Regarding the MC, initially, I found her likable, but my admiration has been waning as I progress. Initially, she was amusing, but later on, her behavior grated on my nerves. I expected that her constant interactions with the ML in various parallel worlds would foster some genuine feelings between them. However, every time she leaves a world, she quickly moves on, barely reflecting on her experiences. It's as if those encounters were never significant.
Moreover, there's almost no character development; she remains static throughout. As someone meant to inherit her father's company, I expected her to exhibit maturity and independence, but she comes across as childish, stubborn, and emotionally immature. Her actions, like impulsively kissing the ML to steal his life force and then fainting due to rapid world transitions, frustrate me.
The system is another sore point – it's incredibly annoying, and I'd love to see it disappear. Reading the story, you'll understand why I feel this way.
In terms of the ML, he's just average to me – not exceptional, but not terrible either. His portrayal in different worlds seems more appealing than his real-life personality, which is rather平淡.
Overall, the novel lacks spark for me. I genuinely dislike it. While I initially enjoyed it, the repetitive and monotonous nature has made it tiresome. The translation is fantastic, and there are a few enjoyable storylines, so maybe I'll revisit some parts in the future, but I won't re-read the entire thing.
Is it really true that a man's love is unattainable without believing the woman returns his affection?
The incestuous arc was the breaking point for me. It was difficult to stomach the idea of sibling love, and the male lead even sexually assaulted the MC multiple times. If the author had portrayed it as a negative consequence or explored the complexities, maybe it would've been more acceptable. Instead, after the confession, the MC allowed it to happen again (voluntarily), seemingly condoning his actions. How could there be any remorse? It dawned on me that this novel is nothing but trash.
If you're looking for a story filled with those themes, you might find something to satisfy your curiosity. But for me, it was a complete waste of time.
"However, there's one aspect that I find lacking: the random nature of rewards without a clear explanation of the system. This inconsistency can be confusing and detracts from the overall experience."
"Well, there are four points I'd like to share:
1. The system is incredibly frustrating.
2. The storytelling isn't terrible, though.
3. Although the main character (ML) can come across as ruthless throughout the storylines, it's not without reason. The original hosts were generally flawed, with many being weak, wicked, or just plain unlikable. So, to those calling ML a scoundrel, perhaps consider their context.
4. Spoiler Alert:
After 300 chapters, the protagonist still hasn't made significant progress in her real life. Either the system is consistently unreliable, functioning poorly about 90% of the time, or external circumstances keep derailing her efforts. It's not particularly humorous either. Every time she tries to achieve something, a new setback occurs. Initially, it was Bai Yao Yao, which was somewhat understandable, but now it's the ML unintentionally undoing her hard work.
I used to eagerly anticipate her revenge after each arc, but now, I'm not even hopeful anymore, as she keeps getting knocked back down due to various setbacks. It's become quite repetitive."
The book keeps me engaged, despite its disturbing content. Perhaps it's because I find the transformation of the male lead into a psychological character intriguing. However, I must warn that this isn't a light read – it delves into dark themes that can be hard to look away from. If you're seeking fluffy romance, this is definitely not the book for you. But if you appreciate a mature story that explores the moral dilemmas of both the main characters, with heart-rending yet thought-provoking elements, then this might be worth a read. The male lead isn't inherently good, but the story gradually unfolds to reveal its main plot.
Pros:
- Translation is clear and easily comprehensible.
- The female lead's liveliness adds freshness to the plot.
- The system is quirky, endearing, pitiful, and dependable (read more in-story).
- Papa Bai: Help maintain Mr. [Character's Name]'s blood pressure, please.
- Doctor QQ: Give this guy a break – sometimes reminiscent of Takao Kazunari's lively banter.
Cons:
- Character development for the female lead progresses gradually.
- The male lead requires some TLC – his heart deserves care.
- Yandere elements exist, but they serve a purpose.
- The story can be emotionally draining, akin to a heart-wrenching breakup, but that's what makes you empathize with each character arc.
That's all for now; I don't wish to spoil the upcoming experience for readers."
Note: Replace "[Character's Name]" with the actual character's name in the text.
1. The male lead (ML) is not a villainous character; his harsh treatment towards the female lead (FL) initially stems from misunderstandings. In Arc 1, he believes she caused his mother's death, Arc 2 involves assumptions about her being manipulative, Arc 3 is about a forced marriage, and Arc 4 involves her actions leading to his public humiliation. His behavior is explained, making it more understandable.
2. FL is a comedic and cunning character, using both sweet and unpredictable tactics to achieve her goals, which adds to the story's charm.
3. The story offers a wide range of tropes, catering to various reader preferences. It seems like every desire you might have is included.
4. The ML goes through a transformation, becoming quite intense and playing psychological games, satisfying fans of the yandere/psycho genre.
5. The ML stands out as not a one-dimensional character. For instance, in Arc 2, he initially plans to manipulate FL for an evil purpose, but his love for her changes his course.
6. The system in the story is humorous and adds a unique touch to the quick transmigration genre. The interactions between the FL and the system are enjoyable.
7. One amusing scene involves the FL presenting a painting of a tiger to the ML, which turns out to be a Pikachu! Their conversation showcases their playful banter.
Overall, the review highlights the story's engaging characters, plot twists, and diverse elements that make it worth reading for fans of the mentioned titles or similar genres.
