Pei An was born in peace, died during the apocalypse, succumbing to the endless waves of zombies. However, he didn’t entirely pass away; his soul was reborn in the interstellar era, inhabiting the body of someone with the same name and surname.
Cherishing life, Pei An diligently lives on, occasionally venturing into space to scavenge for junk. After years of scavenging, one day he stumbles upon a person, a robust alpha.
Pei An: “Don’t let the picked-up alpha go to waste, bring him back and put him to work.”
Xie Yu, an outstanding military officer and a remarkable commander, fell victim to betrayal from his subordinates, nearly meeting his end. A once invincible commander found himself in a dire situation.
Fate favored Xie Yu, saving him from death’s grasp as he sought refuge in an escape pod floating through space. However, he was then picked up as junk by an omega.
Xie Yu: “…”
Pei An: “If you’re eating and living under my roof, you can’t not pay, so…”
Xie Yu quickly responds: “So you want me to offer myself?”
Pei An deadpans as he hands Xie Yu a cutting board and a knife: “So you’ll be responsible for cooking for me from now on.”
Xie Yu smiles: “Sure, I’ll cook for you forever.”

The narrative focuses on their partnership as they unite the world against oppressive rebels and corrupt nobility, aiming to create a better society. However, the reviewer points out that there's a lack of clarity regarding the timing and setting, questioning the existence of a massive rebel army given the established empire. They also mention that pacing felt slow, with occasional pauses due to real-life distractions, and language issues detracting from the experience. Despite these drawbacks, the novel offers potential for a decent read when seeking a leisurely, albeit slow-paced, story. The topic of children is touched upon, but the MC's pregnancy and subsequent loss are not a central aspect during the war.
The author could have explored more with the available plot elements, but towards the end, the pace seemed rushed, leaving some readers feeling unsatisfied. Overall, it's a satisfactory read if one is willing to overlook its flaws and has the patience for a slower narrative.
The protagonist, Pei An, undergoes a compelling character development. Coming from a post-apocalyptic world with immense responsibilities, he faces the reality of a new interstellar life after death. His honesty about not being the original host, despite the emotional turmoil, is understandable, as he can't deceive someone connected to the original. He forms a bond, but it's short-lived. As the most mature survivor, he takes on leadership roles and provides psychological support, even if it means internalizing others' negative emotions.
Pei An's strength wanes after meeting the love interest, as he finds solace and support. His pregnancy, though a result of a moment of carelessness, is acceptably portrayed given his background. The loss of a potential blood relative, someone he could have formed a genuine connection with, naturally elicits intense emotions, especially considering his unique circumstances.
Although he has experienced immense trauma and pressure, Pei An's vulnerability is relatable. It's natural for him to feel weak and undergo changes, even with his resilience. Despite this, he remains strong and achieves his objectives.
While there might be plot holes, I didn't find them significant enough to detract from my enjoyment. Minor translation errors were easily overlooked by my mind. Therefore, I can't offer much constructive criticism.
