From my view, Pei An's character development is reasonable. Originally from the apocalyptic era with great responsibilities, he transmigrated into the interstellar era immediately after dying. He knew he cannot go back again to the world he is familiar with and has to come to terms with it. He has no one in the new world but he still confessed that he is not the og host because he cannot pretend (and maybe can't bear to deceive someone who possibly has a close relationship with the og host). Still, he was accepted, he was not alone. He finally formed a bond with someone and became his family, and yet that was destroyed shortly afterward.
Because he was the only one with an adult/mature mind among the survivors, he again has to take the responsibility of leading them and making them have the will to continue living. Because of his psychic poweres, he became the psychological support of these survivors. The others have him as an outlet to release all the negative thoughts to but he doesn't have one and just continue taking in until these survivors got through it or grew and knew how to manage it themselves.
And so, I find it reasonable when he became weaker after meeting the ml. He finally had someone he can release the negativity locked away deep inside him to. Someone who can become his support.
Then, he unexpectedly became pregnant. It's true that they have been careless in their protective measures during their intimate time. However, I find it acceptable for MC since he was not an og inhabitant in that world and might have still rejected or didn't believe the notion of men being pregnant deeply inside him but, ML was indeed very careless in that area as someone originally born in that era, which is why MC became pregnant.
Realizing he actually had a blood relative, a being that had been created with the person he chose to live his lifetime with, it is normal to have very intense reactions when someone like that was suddenly gone before he knew it even existed. Someone that could finally be his real family and connection in that era (aside of course from the family formed through marriage and bonds).
I mean, even for normal couples who have not gone through extreme situations, like the apocalypse or being a survivor in mass mu*ders, it is normal to become depressed when they lose a child through miscarriage, right? What more the MC with all the situations he's gone through.
Despite being mentally resilient, with the past experiences, the pressure from his great responsibilities, and the grief he has after losing his child, it is very normal to become weak and have some changes.
And yet, despite all this, he remained strong and successfully achieved his goals.
[collapse]Well, there might be some plotholes but I didn't really notice them. I mean, I'm not even really very bothered with the translation issues. My brain just tries to correct them and if it can't correct them as I read, it just ignores them haha. And so, I can't really give some constructive criticism because of this.
