If you are looking for a whirlwind romance, this is not for you. The pacing is slow but worthit.

Honoka ni Purple is a story about two teenagers who meet due to their parents' marriage and eventually fall in love. This concept has been used countless times, and since this manga is quite old, it presents a very direct take on the trope. Additionally, it's executed in an excessively dramatic, soap opera-like manner that was likely more popular back then. You might find yourself enjoying this ironically because the melodrama is so intense that it's difficult to take it seriously. Otherwise, the plot lacks coherence. The father is so strongly opposed to their relationship that his character becomes nearly irredeemable. I can't help but feel that the step-mother should just leave him, solving everyone's issues.
