I Will Protect You This Time

Good artwork and humor, but the plot wasn't as engaging as it could have been. Still, the comedic and romantic interactions between the protagonist and her newfound love interest were entertaining enough to hold attention for the most part.  

Overall, the manga was simply "good." I felt there wasn't much depth to it. While it's true that "less is more," this manga had "too much 'less' and not enough 'more.'" It showed potential but fell just short of delivering.  

I rate it 7 out of 10.

<p>Reading this in 2023 was an incredibly enjoyable experience. Reflecting on past shojo mangas, it turned out to be a delightful read. Despite being a very brief story that can be completed in one night, it doesn't detract from the impact the characters leave. Rena and Tomoya form a couple that not only complement each other perfectly but also develop much faster than in many other shojo stories from the same era, which is refreshingly different. Although this rapid development might make their relationship feel somewhat less natural, it adds a unique charm. It would have been fantastic to learn more about Tomoya's sister, who is also a mangaka, but the additional stories included do provide a decent insight into her character. Overall, there aren't many shojo mangas featuring mangaka protagonists (especially from this time period) that craft such an adorable relationship, leaving a memorable impression. It's definitely a worthwhile read in 2023 if you appreciate fast-paced, shorter shojo stories.</p>

Story: So, the story is pretty straightforward. It begins with a girl named Rena Sakura, who secretly balances her life as a high schooler and a mangaka. She specializes in writing love manga and aims to deepen her stories further.  

One day, she encounters Tomoya Okita, the most popular guy in school—the one who rejects all the girls. He jokingly teases her for trying to make a move on him. During their encounter, Rena accidentally drops her manga rough drafts and later realizes they're left at school after visiting her editor. Meanwhile, Tomoya picks up the drafts and starts reading them. When Rena returns to retrieve them, she finds Tomoya saying, "Your drawings are really perverted." In response, Rena impulsively asks Tomoya out, and surprisingly, he accepts. To uncover the rest of the events, you'll have to read it yourself!  

Art: The artwork is truly impressive. There are often many characters depicted, and while the backgrounds may seem somewhat similar to me, the overall drawing quality is excellent.  

Characters: The characters are fantastic. Tomoya isn't what you'd initially expect, and forming your own opinion about him will be part of the fun. Rena, on the other hand, is intriguingly innocent yet not entirely so. Her interactions with Tomoya are quite amusing, and her tendency to overreact adds a lot of humor.  

Enjoyment: I thoroughly enjoyed this manga. It's not overly mature but offers plenty of humor and romance. While it shares some similarities with other works I've read, it still delivers a compelling story. I had a great time reading it and would definitely revisit it.

<p>I really enjoy this manga. It features separate stories with the same characters, and it originally started as a one-shot. Currently, I noticed there are two volumes out, each presenting a new challenge for the two lovers. The characters, in my opinion, are drawn very cutely... especially the protagonist, Tomoya, but the female lead, Rena, is also very adorable since she's always depicted in chibi form. There aren't many main characters to complicate the series; it's just Rena and Tomoya. Anyway, the manga has its cute moments, some cheesy moments, but overall, it's pleasant.</p>

<p>This is a really adorable manga. It took me around an hour to go through both volumes in the bookstore. I wouldn't classify this as a manga I'd spend my money on, despite loving the artwork and characters. I think the storyline could have been more developed. That said, it's a sweet and fast read, definitely worth checking out even if you don't intend to buy it.</p>

The characters are adorable too!!! The story revolves around a girl who is a mangaka and wants to keep it a secret from her classmates!! But unfortunately, she drops her drawing in the school library, and the most popular guy in school picks it up and takes a look!!! When she realizes this, she rushes back to the school library, hoping no one has seen what's inside!!! Upon arriving at the library, she sees that guy, and he tells her that he has it and that he's already seen it!! And that's when the love story begins!!!! xD To know more details, read it!!! P.S.: Another reason I give it an outstanding score is that this story really strikes a chord with me!!! I want my future love story to be like a comic (manga) story, and to meet my handsome prince who looks like a character from animation (mangas)!!! Hehehe :D Isn't that funny!!! 'Fall in love like a comic' is entertaining because it revolves around the life of a mangaka. However, upon closer inspection, it turns out to be a weak story. There's no proper conclusion, and the romantic scenes leave much to be desired. The one redeeming quality is the artwork; I genuinely appreciate the illustrations. It's a straightforward story suitable for a single read, but I can't wholeheartedly recommend it. The enjoyment it offers stems solely from the stereotypical characters.

I absolutely loved this manga! It's a simple, charming, and concise story. The manga doesn't drag on with unnecessary filler; it's just pure cuteness and wholesomeness. The artwork is stunning as well. There isn't much more to say—it delivers exactly what it promises. I appreciated the depth added to Rena through her feelings for Tomoya (almost slipped a spoiler there!). However, I was a bit disappointed that the side characters and rivals didn't get more development due to the manga's brevity—they felt like they were there just to fill space. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed it! If you have the time to sit down and read two volumes for a gentle romance, this will definitely fit the bill. It's obviously not for those who aren't big fans of the genre.  

Additionally, there are no aggressive, abusive, or toxic elements often found in similar manga—I was genuinely thrilled about that.  

Overall, it was fantastic! A delightful experience with a beautiful early 2000s art style. I would gladly revisit it if I needed a quick, wholesome pick-me-up. <p>
