Thirty years ago, Chu Xiaxing was a well-known and talented young female director.

Thirty years later, Chu Xiaxing was still unmarried, temperamental, and hard-core old lady.

She spent her life practicing her dream of being a director, received countless major awards, and left a big legacy in the history of filmmaking, but was alone in her final years, and even her funeral was organized by her niece.

By chance, Chu Xiaxing possessed the popular actress embroiled with scandal, Chu Xiaxin, who slit her wrists, and took over the bad life of the other person.

On the set, the director repeatedly berated and made things difficult for Chu Xiaxin, who had joined the group at the expense of funding, accused the other party of poor acting skills, yet the director suffered a brazen rebuke.

Chu Xiaxing: Nonsense, obviously it’ s you who cannot direct the scene.

Director (sneer): If you can, why don’t you do it? You can be the director!

Chu Xiaxing: Alright.

Director: ???

The scandal-ridden actress Chu Xiaxin suddenly announced that she had changed her career to become a director, instantly shocking the entire world internet! What’s even more frightening is that…… she filmed pretty damn good? Actually crushed a bunch of veteran directors!

In the production crew, Chu Xiaxing sized up her new backstage boss and couldn’t resist whistling flirtatiously at the handsome and well-dressed man.

The boss looked at the female hooligan in disbelief: “?”

The story revolves around an accomplished female director who operates in a predominantly male field, striving to constantly push her boundaries. I found it captivating, as the protagonist is both assertive and composed. There's an intriguing mystery element that weaves through the narrative, and I particularly enjoyed the romantic subplot.

The novel offers a soothing experience akin to a hearty bowl of beef stew on a chilly day with the sound of the news in the background. The characters are well-developed, like tender carrots and potatoes, and the world-building is vivid and distinct. The plot progression is engaging, like a gooey layer of melted cheese – though I must admit, it's a comparison I'm making after my recent delivery (yes, I did order beef stew; let me enjoy it in peace!).

In truth, it's an excellent read. I found myself at my desk, struggling to articulate just how much I appreciated it. Instead, my food delivery notification interrupted me. (Believe it or not, I ordered beef stew.) I wholeheartedly recommend it, despite its imperfections. This book provided a comforting escape for me personally. Now, I suddenly crave chicken nuggets, but that's a separate issue.

Alright, picture this: if Stanley Kubrick were a woman, and after death she reincarnated as Greta Gerwig. That would be the premise for this amusing story. Although it's rather straightforward to convey in a literal translation, I wish there was a more nuanced version, as it could provide an opportunity to learn about Chinese film production. Unlike other works that focus on scandalous actress tales, this author demonstrates genuine understanding of the industry, either through extensive research or firsthand experience in the entertainment sector. The specifics about production and direction within the narrative ring true for those who work in the field, indicating a credible knowledge base.
