Chocolate Cosmos, huh? It first caught my attention because of its name—it's pretty cute, don't you think? The story is essentially about a student-teacher relationship, but it's definitely worth reading! There's this chapter where the teacher gets slightly annoyed due to comments about his baby face; I personally loved that part because I have the same issue, hahaha. There are little details that make the story unique in its own way, so once again, I do recommend giving it a read. ^^

Art? Absolutely outstanding, especially because of the bishonen appeal &gt;:)

Characters? I truly enjoyed each and every one of them—there's even a narcissist, hahaha, but damn, he was sexy x.x ... Anyway, the twists are well-crafted and keep you hooked, wanting to keep reading no matter what :P

Enjoyment? A lot! But I really wished for more scenes of them being in a relationship. Still, I think the ending was really good.

Before I even started reading, I knew I would adore this manga.
I've always been a huge fan of the author, Nana Haruta, and her art style is simply unparalleled!
I've read both "Stardust Wink" and "Love Berrish," and they were absolutely fantastic!

Getting back to the main topic. This manga revolves around Sakurai Sayuki, a girl on a quest to find the boy she has feelings for. However, due to her sharp features, people often mistakenly assume she's perpetually angry, despite her actually being quite kind-hearted. Her two best friends, Shiori and Mina, do their best to cheer her up by taking her to the beach and basketball games. During one trip to the beach, she accidentally bumps into a strikingly handsome young man. They strike up a conversation, and she discovers that he attends her school. She quickly finds herself falling for him. Later, she learns that he is, in fact, her home economics teacher. This revelation leaves her questioning her feelings and unsure if pursuing this love is appropriate. You'll have to read the manga to uncover the outcome, but it's definitely worth your time. The story is incredibly endearing, and I've grown to love it immensely!

The artwork is phenomenal, though I felt the ending was somewhat rushed. With more chapters, it could have been even better!

I know this is a rather popular student x teacher manga, but I was genuinely a bit underwhelmed by it overall.

    Art: 9/10
As others have mentioned, the art is truly exceptional. It's invigorating to see those striking close-ups with fiery eyes. The panels are visually engaging, and both the dialogue and action flow smoothly. The reason I've given it a nine instead of a ten is due to my personal preference for bishounen; I like them to be just a touch more masculine.

    Character: 8/10
The characters are well-crafted for a light comedic romance. It's refreshing to have a heroine with a flawed personality who frequently dishes out insults. The childhood friend archetype also gets an interesting twist here, as he behaves more like a lead character than the usual clumsy types in that role. He's essentially the smartest person in the story. The downside is how indecisive both the student and the teacher are. The supporting characters each possess a unique trait, and their lives orbit around the protagonist. A standout is Shiori Koto, the female friend whose deadpan demeanor and odd comments add significant charm to the manga.

    Story: 3/10
The narrative began promisingly, offering some witty commentary on manga clichés and showing potential to break free from them. However, it loses momentum towards the end. As the story progresses, personalities undergo drastic changes, loose ends are hastily resolved, and it succumbs to the very clichés it initially mocked. The ending feels not just unresolved, but significantly so, and much of the foreshadowing and themes from the first half remain unfulfilled. Nevertheless, there are some charming flashback arcs, and the slice-of-life elements are fairly enjoyable. I believe the author could have either condensed the story or extended it over a few more volumes to properly tie up loose ends.

    Enjoyment: 6/10
There are delightful "aww" moments scattered throughout, along with sharp, witty dialogue. In terms of fanservice, the author keeps it moderate with about one kiss per volume.

    Overall: 6/10
In summary, it's a pleasant experience with fantastic artwork and some humor sprinkled in. Does it make a profound statement? Not really.

I actually picked this up by mistake... I thought it was something else. Only when the plot didn't unfold as I anticipated did I realize my error, lol.

It’s a sweet story, though not particularly original or mind-blowing.

The narrative follows Sakurai, who meets a boy at the beach. They have a great time, spend the day together, and then it turns out they attend the same school. She resolves to find him once school starts. When she finally sees him again, he's referred to as "Sensi." It turns out he's her economics teacher—though I think it might actually be a home economics class since they discuss family and cooking rather than global markets.

The story progresses with Sakurai grappling with her emotions and figuring out what she truly wants.

As for character development, Sakurai's arc wasn't bad; in fact, I really liked her. She's blunt, honest, and has a strong sense of self. On the other hand, Hagiwara ("Sensi") remains somewhat vague. His thoughts and feelings aren't clearly conveyed—he just seems perpetually cheerful and smiling. Yuushi's character, however, was well-crafted. He's relatable, and his growth adds depth to the story. While the concept isn't groundbreaking, I appreciated his contribution to the overall narrative.

One gripe: I don't understand the title. Even after reading the author's explanation of what "chocolate cosmos" signifies, I'm still puzzled as to why she chose to name the manga after it.

Overall, it wasn’t a terrible read, and I would recommend it. Would I revisit it? Probably not.

This manga... in my opinion, it wasn't the greatest. I tend to enjoy cliché mangas as well as story twists... Throughout the entire thing, I sort of figured Sayuki was heading towards that ending one way or another... but... for me, the conclusion wasn't truly satisfying. I think it's because I had already anticipated the ending somewhat...

That said, I'm not trying to say "don't read this manga!!!"
It was actually quite good, so you should give it a read and form your own opinion on it. <p>

I picked up this manga when it was first published and freshly translated. I instantly fell in love with the artwork. And that might be the biggest reason why I kept with it, despite its late updates.

    STORY 8/10
Like most shoujo mangas, there were cliches, love triangles, forbidden love, etc. But for Chocolate Cosmo, it all seemed to be tied together, with unexpected twists and a fair amount of lighthearted humor. That made reading it addictive. I rank the story an 8 out of 10 because, despite its good nature, it was still slightly over-predictable.

    ART 10/10
As I've said, the artwork is truly something else. Now, it is not realistic, but it is beautiful in a way only a true contender to the phrase 'shoujo-maniac' could understand. The art made the predictable storyline bearable. (And almost made me wish Hagi was real)

    CHARACTER 9/10
As far as characters go, I found each one to be memorable. With a strong leading heroine, a childish yet charming protagonist, an even more charming antagonist, and a group of well-structured friends, it made the story really come alive. I found every character to be lovable, unique, and at the same time, relatable.

    ENJOYMENT 8/10
Not including the long hiatus on updates, I found that while I would instantaneously read new chapters when they were released, I didn't lose any sleep pondering when the next chapter would come out. While it did keep my attention hanging on every character's words while I was reading, once I finished the latest update, I didn't feel incomplete that there wasn't a next chapter. Hence, I'm giving it a ranking of 8. It was very enjoyable, just not great.

    OVERALL 9/10
Overall, I'd recommend this to artwork-admiring fans with a fetish for handsome teachers and tangled relationships. I recommend this only to those who have patience for cliches and adore love stories, no matter how simple they turn out to be.
