The supporting characters were a delight, their relationships with the MC and ML were heartwarming and wholesome. As for the MC's brothers, I can't guarantee everyone will enjoy them equally. There's one brother I genuinely admire, but the others haven't reached a point where I feel the same way. However, I can appreciate their efforts.
In summary, I adored the storyline, especially the twists and mysteries, and cherished the side characters. The ML and MC's bond was a standout favorite. Though I may not have full enthusiasm for the brothers, the author skillfully portrayed them without turning them into complete antagonists. Overall, this story was a healthy and excellent read for me personally.
The relationship between the MC and ML is adorable, with the MC taking on a caring, doting role early on. Their bond only grows sweeter once they become a couple. What sets this apart is how ML respects and supports MC's aspirations, like helping him pursue a police career despite his association with the triad.
Both characters undergo significant character development, facing their flaws and working to improve themselves. The MC's growth is particularly evident as he works to clear his "death bar." ML, too, experiences transformation from a depressed state to determination to live, and his character arc is subtle yet impactful.
While some might argue that MC's character isn't entirely realistic for a cop, I find his optimism appealing, given his background as a small-town policeman with a stable life. His occasional naivete, especially around ML, could be attributed to his trust in the system and ML.
The supporting characters, including the brothers, also grow and add warmth to the story. The triad members may not be as fleshed out, but they prove their loyalty to ML as the story unfolds.
The author's writing is witty, with humor贯穿 the narrative, even during intense moments. The balance of humor, action, and introspection makes for a compelling read. I'm thrilled to see this gem translated, and I appreciate the translator's efforts, especially with the tricky MC's name!
In summary, this novel is a delightful blend of emotions, relationships, character growth, and humor. It's a must-read for fans of well-crafted stories. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and translation!
However, my rating deduction is partly due to the portrayal of the romantic aspects, which I personally found somewhat unrealistic. The story often attributes misunderstandings to the main character's perceived lack of emotional understanding, even though their ignorance is understandable given the context. The supporting characters' refusal to communicate openly with the MC creates frustration, as they expect him to deduce the love interest's feelings without providing crucial cues.
Additionally, a minor inconsistency irked me: as a character who was previously a university graduate and a police officer, the MC's struggle with high school-level problems seemed out of character. It's possible that cultural differences affect the educational system, but it detracted from the realism for me.
Nonetheless, these minor issues do not overshadow the overall enjoyment of the book. Despite the occasional bumps, it's a fun read with engaging storytelling. So, I would still encourage others to give it a try.
The narrative unfolds when Shi Jin (the protagonist) wakes up in someone else's body, only to discover that he has been transported into a complex family-centric novel. Driven by his desire to protect and support "his" family, Shi Jin embarks on a journey that becomes increasingly intriguing and thrilling as he encounters the ML. Every turn of events keeps readers eagerly engaged in this extraordinary tale.
I do have one minor wish, though (up to where I've reached in the translation). I wish Shi Jin would make more of an effort to mend his relationship with his brothers instead of giving up so easily. I think it was in Chapter 38, when they apologized, he didn't actively seek them out. His focus seems to be solely on the progress bars, and once he's certain they're not the culprits, he drops the issue. I really hope they can develop a stronger bond later on.
But let's talk about Lian Jun... Oh my goodness, how dense can Shi Jin be?!?!?
I appreciate the characters' autonomy and diversity. It's refreshing to enjoy the story without getting bogged down in melodramatic misunderstandings (seriously, a simple conversation would've sorted things out) – their relationship is solid, yay!
The plot is well-crafted without being too overwhelming. I enjoy watching the characters grow, although I can't help but feel like the supporting characters are more fleshed out compared to the leads.
Overall, I absolutely love the story. ^_^
