I’ve read up to Ch. 64 then dropped it. I’d say the first 40 chapters are a good read but it just drops in quality, for both translation and plot. The pacing became horrible and it started to drag. The translation became more inconsistent and new terms are added as if it’s being retconned as the story goes. Suddenly, things made less and less sense. Everything became convoluted and it’s hard to see where it’s going. Not in a ooh-I-wonder-what’s-gonna-happen-next way, but in a idk-what’s-going-on-anymore kind of way.10/10 would not recommend.

Have yet to read this but will update once I do. However, the premises of the story is based on a betrayal in game. I don’t know why it would matter so much since it’s only a game—it’s not like their life is on the line like in SAO. Why doesn’t he just start over? Better yet,  he should choose better friends.Doesn’t sound that interesting but I’ll read it anyways since I’ve caught up on all my favorite stories.

Hmm where should I start?? First of all for those who like legendary mechanic this novel has the same characteristics with different world background. The start of story is rather confusing and not interesting enough for me. The story has a slow pace that you will find the chapter mostly talked about his daily story, well a lot of preparation thing before the player (Beta) start appearing at chapter around 20 I think. To be honest the story itself was actually good and has a good potential (I don't read the raw, it's based on this trial read) but the one that will turned you off will be the translation. A lot of sentence in the novel don't made sense, it the way that it was missing a lot of information that affected the detail of the story.Well I'll end it here, I'll edit it later after reading all 40 Chapter.

To describe this series in a sentence, "Beautiful originality and yet lacking in all other aspects." The whole story of Lord Shadow is unique, having managed to somehow include everything from gods to aliens to a parody of MCU. The problem of this series lies in every other aspect. The grammar, character development, story development, exposition dumps, flashbacks, and romance is terrible.

It's a good book. The only part that left something to be desired was the MC's personality, but we can't forget that the book has just begun. I mention this point because in the first life the MC didn't retaliate knowing his brother was trying to kill him? Let's be realistic: who will allow themselves to be killed just because the killer is family? I felt that this part left something to be desired. Another point is the MC's lack of ambition in his second life, his only objective is to avenge his mother. This was frustrating, I expected a conqueror after reading the synopsis. Also, the MC is smart at times but extremely naive at other times, so I hope the character develops. Don't get me wrong, this is constructive criticism, the novel is amazing, don't be discouraged, it only has this small flaw. It's a hidden gem.
