It was mildly entertaining at first, but it reads too much like an ancient wuxia even though it’s set in modern times. Culterally, it’s hot garbage. In 90% of the situations the MC or his family are in someone would have called the police instead of just sitting there “fearing” the other person’s family. It’s a bunch of, “I’m so and so from clan whoever from whatever county. Fear me”. No on talks like that in modern times or expects people to realize who they are like that. It is fairly terrible plot wise, as well. The MC only meets conceited spoiled rich people who are offended by his poor son in law status and they to suppress him only to fail.

This novel made me redownload Total War: Attila.  The author seems to do plenty of research and put plenty of thought into his novels to make sure that you get the right balance of believable alternate history and thrilling story progression.

The story and world seem well thought out and interesting.  The characters are a struggle to read.  I keep stopping and doing something else for a while before coming back to this.  I want to like it.  I want to enjoy it because the premise is one I like and the world seems interesting.  But I keep losing interest whenever I read character interactions.  The language thing at the start is really cool.  The wall/gate is interesting.  I really like the fire dog fight.  The premise of a mage in a cultivation world is a great one.  I have read maybe three or four books that try to cover it and all were either cut short (Essence of Cultivation) or fell off (Dao of Magic).The MC and a potential FL are really our only two main characters in the first twenty chapters.  The MC just feels off somehow.  Disjointed.  He has a lot going on and much of it feels like it doesn't have the emotional weight it should.  The FL is painful to read.  All the blushing, trembling, and other things she does rather than talking.  This is a woman that is supposed to be out risking her life in battle, has gone through some apparently harsh life experiences, and she acts like a coy 4 year old who is also a well adjusted adult?  I think the author is trying to run with the jade beauty cliche while also spicing it up/filling it out but again it just is not fun to read.I am glad I read it.  I would encourage others to read it to see if they can get past the characters.  But I won't be continuing from here.

honestly this may be the best pick along this line up. I'm a big fan of an overpowered mc and this story has just enough suspense to make it seem he will still be able to die (plot armor for the win). it's definitely a fun read anyway.

First chapter, I'm very impressed on how good you describe things. There were some minor misspells but I don't seem to care. As a reader it's up for us to adjust and understand the author. All in all, grammar, setting, plot are all great. The thing is that didn't get to know the MC's personalities earlier. That's all I can say basing from my experience.

It’s ok I wished it could have been better. If the translator didn’t try to translate word for word the whole story would have been smoother and way easier to understand.
