romance moves at a snail's pace
I can see similarities to quite a few established manga out there, and there have been a lot of potential plotlines from the beginning and halfway opened that are constantly there, so it's always interesting and relatively coherent (and not like a out of nowhere plotline).
One of the most obvious similarities is the devil is a part-timer! (the premise from the beginning is essentially similar, demon king + hero), nanatsu na taizai etc.
However, I'm really surprised by the worldbuilding and storytelling of this series. At chapter 337, it still seems endless, and I'm always eager to read more to find out what happens next. This is really rare for a manhua with hundreds of chapters.
But it's not perfect, because there are way too many ongoing plotlines, and some plotlines only get continued dozens of chapters later. It's kinda difficult for readers to remember what happened previously if they read release by release. Especially since some plotlines are quite complicated.
This is one of the few fantasy/Isekai manhua I absolutely love. Yes the ML(Merlin Lucifer) is OP and that might seem boring but throughout the story he's actually trying to aid the FL(Alice Claudia) to become stronger.
Another thing I love is the slow romance, usually slow romances are boring but there are plenty of moments where you can see them both starting to fall for each other. The comedy in it is great but it also depends on the reader.
Alice is the Church's Hero of the current age, she comes off pretty annoying in the beginning but gradually grows on you, later on she'll have plenty of mysteries around her as to her past all of which hasn't been revealed yet.
Merlin Lucifer is a badass plain and simple, he's the Demon King of Pride. One of Seven(Seven Deadly Sins) that exist. All enemies fall before him in a single Iai slash. He has a curse that causes him immense pain and will eventually kill him if he doesn't kill Saint Ranked enemies(Humans, Monsters, Demons, however Undead beings don't alleviate the curse)
Merlin is a gambler and wants to live a luxurious and uneventful life, however his run in with Alice and the fact he stole her armor and sold it after ditching her, caused her to repeated curse Merlin for two years straight at specific time of day everyday. Thus Merlin never wins on his bets he places on horse races and lost all the money from selling the armor turning him into a dine and dasher and eventual gigalow.
It's a comedy, and you have to take it as one.
I think that people who gave bad rating took it too seriously. ^^
a tease comedy with an op mc and a fun to read story
