I'm not sure if this was explicitly stated, but I think it was implied that the contractors end up the same way the "deal with the devil" people do. So once MC dies he will have to watch others play his life better than he ever could over and over again using methods he had no real way of knowing/doing at the time.
It's like endless mental torture. Would you be satisfied if you were Aldis or whatshisname the burnt face guy? Not really, you had no way of doing what the MC did. Most "new players" or players in general the host-life is just a "game", so they can be as reckless as they want since it's not literally game over if they fail 1-2 missions.
