First off, read this, as Updog said in some comments under mine its super interesting, it got me hooked on FAST. The art is great and i hope it will continue in the long run.

I think he needed (and created) Yato
just to be able to posses a Shiki and be involved with gods, and the whole thing fell into place like this. His nora gathered all the info from all the gods it served and he was able to get the brushes from Izanami via his deal with Ebisu. Because he got rid of the last Ebisu that knew everything, all he needed to do was to get rid of Yato because he knew too much, but in the process he finally got the full attention of the heavens and now he has been on the run. Yato's Shiki, Yukine, was very powerful and the perfect way to create chaos, open some sort of way for blight to get into the human realm and, of course, lure Yato, but he's too powerful to get rid of so easily.

I think I caught most of it, I am a bit confused too but I wait for it to end before a reread to catch everything.

I think people want her to achieve something or do more.

This manga is MUCH better than Rent A Girlfriend. I put it off for the longest time, but picking it up was NOT a mistake.

Does anyone know what volume of the LN the manga is up to? Would rather just read the LN instead of enduring this horrificly slow release schedule
