Pineapple Army tells the story of a legendary former Japanese mercenary who now works as a self-defense instructor. He is dispatched worldwide by an international self-defense agency for various assignments, and each episode features a human drama. Throughout his missions, he also manages to save the world from terrorists on several occasions.

The series was partially published by VIZ Media as part of their VIZ Comics Mini-series, running for 10 issues from December 1988 to April 1989.
