A 500-year-old immortal, Yuta, once ate the flesh of a mermaid out of curiosity after he and his fellow fishermen captured one. While all the other fishermen who partook in the flesh either perished from poisoning or turned into soulless monsters, Yuta survived. Terrified by the possibility of meeting a similar fate, he went into denial and eventually forgot about consuming the mermaid's flesh altogether. He married and lived an ordinary life until he realized that while his wife aged over the years, he remained unchanged since the day he ate the mermaid's flesh. Hearing that a mermaid might hold the key to reversing his immortality, Yuta embarked on endless travels in search of a way to become mortal again. During his journey, he encountered a girl named Mana, another immortal who had been fed mermaid flesh by her caretakers. Yuta rescued Mana from mermaids intending to devour her and took her as his traveling companion.
