He was once a mortal, but immortality overtook him. While walking down to the beach, he discovered a mermaid's corpse washed ashore. Remembering an old legend, he consumed the mermaid's flesh. Unfortunately, it transformed him into a monstrous being. He resembled a Lost Soul, except he retained the ability to speak and feel human emotions, with his eyes becoming large and swollen. Upon regaining consciousness from a concussion during his transformation, he found his village destroyed, along with his family and all its inhabitants murdered. Now known as "Big Eyes," he lived in solitude for a long time until he encountered Mana. He found her and Yuta dead in the cliffs. He took Mana to his cave and cared for her. He wished for Mana to stay with him for companionship and protection from hunters. The most persistent hunter was a man who had lost an eye to "Big Eyes" forty years ago. When Yuta and the hunter found "Big Eyes" and Mana, they attacked him. The attacks triggered his transformation into a fierce monster. Mana tried to protect him, but Yuta and the hunter had no choice but to kill him. As he lay dying, he called out Mana's name with his last breath. Yuta told her that "Big Eyes" died as a human.
