Dr. Yuriy Rockbell (also known as Urey in the 2003 anime) was Winry Rockbell's father, Pinako Rockbell's son, Edward Elric's father-in-law, and the paternal grandfather of Edward and Winry's unnamed children. He lived and worked in Resembool as a surgeon with his wife, Sarah Rockbell. During the peak of the Ishval Civil War, the two Dr. Rockbells left their home in Resembool to treat the wounded on the front lines. Despite being Amestrian, they were well-known in the Kanda region of Ishval for treating injured individuals from both sides of the conflict. While many, including Doctors Marcoh and Knox, saw them as medical inspirations, and several Ishvalan people owed their lives to the couple, Amestrian military officials began to view their humanitarian efforts as a nuisance and sought to have them eliminated.
