Yajirobe is a human character who first appeared near the end of Dragon Ball. A samurai by trade, he lived in the wilderness before meeting Son Goku. Their initial encounter was less than friendly, as Goku ate the fish Yajirobe was cooking, leading to a confrontation. Despite this rocky start, they became friends when Cymbal, the third offspring of Piccolo Daimao, arrived seeking the One-Star Dragon Ball that Yajirobe possessed. Yajirobe defeated and consumed Cymbal. However, when it came to facing Piccolo Daimao himself, Yajirobe chose to hide rather than join Goku in battle. Living with Karin afterward, Yajirobe primarily supported the Z Fighters from the sidelines, cultivating and delivering Senzu Beans. He displayed an unexpected moment of bravery during the Vegeta Saga by cutting off Oozaru Vegeta's tail with his katana and later slicing through Vegeta’s armor. After this, his role as a fighter diminished, and he mainly provided Senzu Beans to the heroes. Though he had some comedic moments during the Artificial Human and Cell Sagas, by the Majin Buu Saga, he became a minor character with occasional appearances. In Dragon Ball GT, he briefly reappeared with a mustache in episode 40. In an alternate timeline depicted in Future Trunks' story, Yajirobe did not go into hiding with Master Roshi and others but instead fought against the Artificial Humans. Although this was not shown in the Trunks TV Special, a brief scene of his death was included in the Cell Saga of the anime. In the original Japanese version, Yajirobe is voiced by Mayumi Tanaka, who also voices Kuririn.
