A short, bald (for most of the series) warrior monk, Krillin is a loyal and comedic character who provides relief during intense moments. Similar to Chiaotzu, Krillin lacks a nose. He is a kind-hearted, sociable, and competitive martial artist. His main flaw appears to be his interest in women, but as the series progresses, this interest becomes more romantic. In perilous situations, he sometimes worries about dying unmarried. One of the most powerful and skilled human martial artists on Earth, Krillin is brave, a steadfast ally, and good-natured. Despite often being outmatched by major villains, he remains a key Z Fighter.
Initially a fierce rival of Son Goku, Krillin soon became his best friend while training under Master Roshi. He also shares a close bond with Goku's son, Gohan. Eventually, Krillin marries Android 18 and starts a family, having a daughter named Marron.
