The son of Bora, Upa joins Son Goku for a brief period during the Fortuneteller Baba Saga to help recover all the Dragon Balls and wish his father back to life. A member of the native tribe guarding Karin Tower, Upa's father is the chief, though the rest of the tribe isn't seen until the manga's end. Upa fights against Uranai Baba's thugs and assists Pu'ar in defeating Dracula Man, a kickboxing vampire, using garlic breath. By the end of Dragon Ball Z, now an adult, Upa is shown contributing energy to Goku's Genki Dama. He and his father make a final cameo appearance in Dragon Ball GT during the episode "Piccolo's Decision." Interestingly, when Kuririn first meets Upa, he mistakenly thinks Upa is a cute girl and is embarrassed upon realizing his mistake, subsequently apologizing to Upa.
