To expose the Shikis, Toshio allows himself to be bitten by Kirishiki Chizuru, luring her out during the village festival where she is killed, revealing the truth about the Shikis. Following this, he leads the villagers in a violent extermination of the Shikis, which only ends when the village is set ablaze.
