Hayami is the head of the High School Newspaper Department and a high school student at Gakuen Alice. He possesses two Alices: the Enhanced Hearing Alice and the Eyesight Alice, which he utilizes to gather news for the school newspaper. Despite having enhanced eyesight, he wears glasses, which are likely an Alice restraint or used for training purposes. Wearing glasses also significantly enhances his vision. Hayami has assisted Mikan and the others in the Z Arc, Hana Hime Arc, and the High School Division Arc by using his Alices.
