The owner of the liquor store, Tomio is an imposing figure who rules his son with a strict hand. He holds a firm belief in the village's traditional unwritten rules, such as newcomers greeting their neighbors, and grows increasingly frustrated as many of Sotoba's norms are distorted by the Shiki's infiltration. When Ozaki Toshio reveals the existence of the Shiki, Tomio is among the first to join him in the effort to eliminate the Shiki. He later stabs his own son Atsushi, who had turned into a Shiki, to death. Upon discovering that Seishin is allied with the Kirishiki, he leads a group of villagers to attack Seishin's temple, resulting in the deaths of Seishin's mother and several attendants. By the end of the series, Tomio pursues Sunako to the church in the forest, intent on killing her for breaking God's rules. He meets his end at the hands of Seishin, who has transformed into a werewolf.
