The man who hosts every Tenka-ichi Budokai from the beginning of Dragon Ball to the end of Dragon Ball Z primarily commentates on the matches. Over time, he becomes acquainted with the Z Warriors and acknowledges their role in saving the Earth. In one episode, he mentions that they defeated Cell, though it was actually Son Gohan who destroyed the villain. He is skeptical of Mr. Satan's abilities, as seen when Vegeta loses control.
In most tournaments, except for the 21st, significant events occur that amplify his role. During the King Piccolo Saga, he witnesses Kuririn's murder by Tambourine, one of King Piccolo's warriors. Later, he observes Goku's fight against Piccolo from the sidelines, making him one of the few civilians aware of the truth.
By the end of Dragon Ball Z, his age begins to show with noticeable hair loss and wrinkles. In Dragon Ball GT, his descendant has white hair. Although he doubts Mr. Satan's claim of defeating Cell, he praises him publicly to keep the fans cheering.
