Steely Dan is a sadistic and arrogant individual, convinced that his stand will shield him from any harm Jotaro might inflict and allowing him to exploit Jotaro in various ways. His arrogance becomes evident when he pays a child to strike him with a broomstick. However, after being hit twice, he reacts furiously and punches the child. Once his stand is defeated and he finds himself defenseless, Steely Dan resorts to cowardice, attempting to ingratiate himself with Jotaro. He even offers to hand over all the money Dio Brando paid him for the job.
