The husband of Izumi Curtis, a massive, muscular man working as a butcher in the town of Dublith. He is known for his quiet demeanor and unwavering trust in his wife's decisions, even when she attempted to bring their deceased infant son back to life.

Like Izumi, he holds deep affection for the Elric brothers and shares their disdain for the military. In the manga, when greeted by Fuhrer King Bradley, he disregards the Fuhrer's questions and ignores the offer for Izumi to become a State Alchemist. However, he ends up befriending Major Alex Louis Armstrong during a muscle-flexing contest. Interestingly, in one episode of the anime, he is depicted sleeping with both eyes open.

He also develops a friendship with Winry Rockbell.
