A mysterious new student at Seito High, presumed to be the school's "secret weapon." Easily a super A-rank, she wields one of the Hyakuhekitou swords with remarkable efficiency. During Ryuubi's assassination attempt, she single-handedly defeated Kakouen Myosai, one of the stronger A-rank characters, while defending Ryuubi from henchmen—all with her eyes closed. She usually presents herself with her eyes shut and is the only girl at Seito who does not wear the standard uniform. Choun believes that violence is unnecessary and that conflicts can be resolved without bloodshed.
Choun is arguably the most skilled fighter in both the manga and anime series (although she refers to Kanu as Seito's strongest). Despite her laid-back demeanor, she was sent by Kanu to defeat Teni and Ryomou's dragon before claiming the Dragon Jade. Due to her limited fights and lack of seriousness, it's hard to gauge her true potential. No opponent has given her a real challenge or even damaged her uniform. At the end of the series, she is seen attempting flower arranging poorly.
It's unclear whether she harbors a dragon, but flashes during her fight scenes reveal cat-like eyes when open, similar to those who control their dragons. This anomaly is also seen in the last episode of the OVA when she throws a warning sign at eavesdroppers outside the hot springs. In scene transitions for Dragon Destiny, she is depicted with a tiger tattoo on her left shoulder blade.
