Shirou is the protagonist of Fate/stay night. He embodies a blend of seriousness and helpfulness, coupled with diligence and honesty. His interests lie in repairing various broken items, ranging from VCRs to stoves, as well as cooking and cleaning. Despite possessing some talent for sorcery, his foster father, Kiritsugu Emiya, discouraged him from honing these abilities. Initially perplexed by the Holy Grail War, Shirou attempts to protect others, including his Servant, Saber, often irrationally.
In terms of magical prowess, Shirou excels in Reinforcement, which allows him to analyze and enhance objects by understanding their physical and chemical composition. However, even this skill remains underdeveloped. Projection, the first magic he learned, is less effective than Reinforcement but unique to Shirou. Known as Tracing, it initially produces hollow replicas but can maintain them for extended periods. Later, due to his Sword Affinity, Shirou can replicate bladed weapons' history and properties, albeit slightly inferior to the originals. At the pinnacle of his abilities lies Unlimited Blade Works, his Reality Marble, enabling him to summon and control countless swords without expanding the reality marble. When expanded, Unlimited Blade Works appears as a desolate landscape filled with swords under a beautiful dawn, where Shirou can mentally command each sword to attack opponents without physical contact.
