Sir Bedivere is a knight of the Round Table, one of the few who remained steadfastly loyal to his king until the very end. Rising through the ranks, he became an Imperial Guard, watching over Arturia purely out of admiration for his sovereign. His sole desire was to be near her and witness her genuine emotions. Despite spending more time with her than any other knight, he never saw her smile once nor learned of her true identity as a woman.
At her deathbed, Sir Bedivere attended to Arturia, finding himself unable to return Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake on two occasions, knowing that doing so would signify the end of the king's life. Disobeying an order is the gravest sin for a knight, yet he struggled with the notion of surrendering the sword. He felt a profound anger that despite all her efforts, the king received no fitting reward. Unable to alter her fate, he finally returned the sword on the third attempt.
After her passing, Sir Bedivere found solace in seeing that she had finally attained the peaceful rest she had been denied in life. Her serene slumber brought him a sense of closure and peace.
